Y=a(x-b)^2+P. Can you tell if y has intersects with x axis?
1). a<0
2). P>0

what i understand in order to to intersect with x axis , the y intesept must be positive and slope should be negtive,
Experts please explain how the given line sastifying both conditions because ans is C

This is a bit outside of the scope of the GMAT, but the negative 'a' coefficient means the parabola opens downward and the positive 'P' variable means the vertex has a positive y value. Thus, the parabola must cross the x-axis twice.

If you think in terms of parabola, then yes this is beyond the scope of GMAT.
