Strength & Weaknesses in Essays

by SebastianX » Thu Jan 30, 2014 4:35 am
Hey there,

In on of my essays I have to explain my key weaknesses, giving relevant examples how I dealt with negative situations and overcame these, plus discussing the lessons learned from and which I take steps to address my weaknesses.

I am going to explain two weaknesses, and sum up 4 strength but more briefly.

My question: Does it make a difference for AdComs whether what I explain at first - weaknesses or strengths?

Thanks in advance,
Sebastian

Hey there,

That's difficult to say as a blanket answer. Only because there could be instances where you structure the essay in such a way that one way is stronger than the other. However, the rule of thumb is answer the question. So if they're asking for your weaknesses and how you've developed them, then more often than not, try to start with your weaknesses. That'll also have the side benefit of keeping you on target versus getting off that path and onto tangents. But, like I said, it comes down to your writing style and how you've structuring the vehicle.

I hope that helps!
