Yale Silver Scholars – Why it is Unique

Talk about selectivity! While tomes have already been written about how selective Stanford, Harvard, and Haas are (see this article from Businessweek and this one from Poets&Quants), few look at the Yale Silver Scholars program which has an acceptance rate that is as low as – if not lower – than Stanford’s 6.8%. Around 200 applicants from around the globe apply for the program every year, and only around 10 make it. If one considers that these applicants must vie for admission to the competitive Yale program without any work experience, the odds are even tougher..Yale Silver Scholars

GyanOne: How is the MFAB different in structure and curriculum from the PGP and PGPMAX offered by ISB? What are the unique features of the MFAB?

ISB MFAB Admissions Team:

1. Much like PGPMAX, MFAB is a modular program. Students spend one week on campus attending classes for every six weeks. In all, there are twelve terms including the one term that happens at Kellogg. PGP is a full-time residential program..ISB MFAB Admissions

Chinese MBA applicants (and Indians!) constitute the largest category of applicants to top MBA programs in Europe and the US. In 2011, a Poets & Quants study found that Indian and Chinese applicants face much higher rejection rates from top US business schools. Yet, this does not mean that Indians and Chinese are similar either in terms of their backgrounds, education systems, or skills that they bring to their MBA applications. The only common thing, perhaps, are their large numbers, which make Chinese and Indian applicants belong to over-represented categories..MBA Admission Consultants India

How Harsh cracked the Kellogg MBA, Yale, and McCombs MBA programs
Soon after he had applied to the Kellogg MBA, Harsh received an invitation to interview. Kellogg interviews are usually conducted by Kellogg alums, in person, in the same city where the applicant is based. In some cases, the admissions committee has been known to conduct them online, and in some others waive off the interview requirement altogether. With his interview set, though, Harsh knew that it was time to dedicate himself to his Kellogg MBA interview preparation..Harsh’s Journey to Kellogg

While there are many schools that offer courses in Real Estate in their MBA programs, and a few that even offer majors in the area, Kellogg stands out among all of them for the avenues that it provides to those from the Real Estate industry [some other top schools that offer a specialization/major in Real Estate are Wharton, Darden, UCLA Anderson, Texas McCombs, Cornell Johnson (dual program – MBA/MPA), Stern, Yale (through specialized courses – not a complete major) and Columbia]. Other schools may have related advantages (e.g. they may be better located for opportunities with more Real Estate firms, or they might have other programs related to Real Estate running on campus that MBA students can take courses from), but Kellogg’s educational focus on the area is outstanding..MBA Success Stories

Is ISB Worth it? 5 Reasons why it is

by GyanOne » Tue Jan 11, 2022 1:03 am

Is ISB worth it? Is ISB good? Is it value for money and effort? These questions are now not as uncommon as they once were. In this post, we try to address this issue, presenting five reasons for why we believe ISB continues to be a premium school. In our opinion not only is ISB good, but it is a great school and has some excellent factors going for it. The Indian School of Business (ISB) program is one of the youngest MBA programs in India (and Asia, and the world) and has quickly created a great reputation for itself. In 2008, ISB became the youngest school ever around the world to feature in the FT top 20 MBA ranking.. ISB essays

There are many legitimate reasons why one would want to consider a second MBA in USA. Career progression, the need to learn advanced management skills in a specific topic area not explored in your first MBA, and the exposure and opportunity offered by top MBA programs are often the frequently quoted reasons.

IMD Assessment Day: What to Expect

by GyanOne » Sat Jan 15, 2022 12:49 am

Forget 30 minute admissions interviews. The IMD assessment day is the king of the interview and assessment process. Over a full day, MBA applicants (assessment day participants) visit the IMD campus in Lausanne, Switzerland, and go through multiple stages of assessment. IMD business school was ranked no.1 among Forbes International business schools 2013 rankings. As we have detailed earlier in a post on one (successful) IMD MBA applicant’s experience, the process has a number of components, and each requires specific preparation to do well at. While a lot of it comes down to one’s natural ability to network, preparation definitely helps. We say this on two counts: people who went to the IMD assessment day with minimal preparation and were then surprised and felt under-prepared by the intensity of it.. MBA interview tips

One year MBA programs in Europe, unlike similar programs in other regions of the world, are not a new phenomenon. Europe has been the pioneer and also the largest adopter of the one year MBA model. Traditionally, however, it has been known more for the top options that it has – INSEAD (France), LBS (UK), and IMD (Switzerland). Over the last decade, though, and increasingly over the last five years, a number of other programs have emerged as top contenders too.

One year MBA programs in Asia have had a strange history. At the turn of the century, such programs were virtually non-existent. Then the Indian School of Business (ISB) opened its doors in 2001, pioneering the concept of the one year program for experienced professionals in India. Till then, the flagship programs of the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), each of a two year duration, ruled the roost completely. Initially, the one year concept was met with skepticism, but ISB’s wild success in a short period forced even the IIMs to go for a rethink. At different points in the following years, the IIMs launched executive programs of their own, different from their flagship programs. Some other top Indian B-schools have followed...MBA in Asia
