Hey aspirant2011, 'includes' in correct here.

the correct answer should be
option B
- includes is modifying Group which is singular. You cannot say birds include [that will be illogical]

I am confused :(
The subject of includes and is represented is A GROUP:

...a GROUP...that INCLUDES more than 230 species and IS REPRESENTED in virtually every kind of habitat.

In the construction NOUN + PREPOSITIONAL MODIFIER + THAT, that can refer to the noun BEFORE the prepositional modifier.
In B, since birds is plural, it is clear that the singular verbs INCLUDES and IS REPRESENTED refer to the singular subject (A GROUP) that appears before the prepositional modifier (of New World tropical birds).
