To MINIMIZE y, we must MINIMIZE the value of 4 + (x-3)².
Since the square of a value cannot be negative, the least possible value of (x-3)² is 0.
(x-3)² = 0 when x=3.
Thus, y will be its least possible value when x=3:
y = 4 + (x-3)² = 4 + (3-3)² = 4.
If x is any value other than 3, the value of y will INCREASE.
The correct answer is
