I think the confusion is between A and E .
A. everything seems to be okay.
E.to our planet's soils composition
soils composition -> many soils have one composition and this doesn't make sense.
it should have been soils compositions . However , in tat case too E would have been wrong .
you cannot compare singular composition with plural compositions.

I feel the correct answer should be option AGmatKiss wrote:The space program's missions to Mars have confirmed that the soil composition on that planet is similar to that on our planet.

I am assuming you were able to eliminate other options except for option A and E.
'soils' in E refers to many soil types whereas we are talking about the soil on Mars. I also feel that this choice is wordy. No other solid reason to eliminate option E.
Option E has a modification error. Possessives always act as adjective modifiers, so they modify nouns.saketk wrote:I feel the correct answer should be option AGmatKiss wrote:The space program's missions to Mars have confirmed that the soil composition on that planet is similar to that on our planet.

In option E we have two adjectives placed back to back, planet's soils' .
So we have a sentence structure Adj Adj Noun, here noun is the composition.
Now if we consider planet's to modify the noun soil, then it is illogical as we are not comparing planet's composition but soils' composition.
So the other option for adjective planet's is to modify adjective soils'. But Adjective can not modify another adjective. So wrong.
So option E is wrong.
