Someone who wants to go to a business school must respect the copyrights.

www.amazon.com would help you!

May be you are right but what is your opinion about the open source IT projects. I hope its well known fight between the open-source projects vs. closed-source project (for which MS faced Antitrust law).

IMHO, knowledge should be freely distributed. One may can charge for his/her service as people do in Open-source projects' companies.

Anyway this is just a personal thought and I am not imposing it on anyone.

PS: May be Powerscore would also face Antitrust law if it would succeeded like Microsoft. :D

Good Luck

I absolutely agree with logitech... I think this forum is starting to tread the thin line of breaching copyrights and administrators really need to step up to the mark before the site gets shut down. I am annoyed with users flouting intellectual property rights - it is a pattern I distinctly notice from users in the emerging markets.

Do not ask people to email you copies of books. You're indicating that you want to break the law. If 1000 series materials are allowed and legal, why doesn't this forum post the documents as freely available materials in the resources section?

Admittedly, the GMAT is a costly investment in both time and money but if you want to go to business school, you're going to need to have more self-integrity. In emerging markets, the GMAT is more costly relative to say the US and UK and whilst I try to empathise, I still cannot support sharing illegal materials.

Can site admins comment on this? I have the greatest respect for the forum administrators but am concerned that if they don't step up to the plate and take responsibility for the actions of some individuals on the site, the site won't exist for much longer.

One more point for open discussion:

Why are we allowed to paste OG questions on online forums?

I think one day these sites will have all OG questions.

Good point! I don't have a black and white answer but given my basic knowledge in international law, I that it is a grey area. Something to do with obvious intent and minimal impact. E.g. if 1 question was posted, it would not necessarily prevent people from purchasing the book. However, if the entire book was posted, then people would have little incentive to buy the book.

I have seen Ron Purewal, the 800 scoring MGMAT tutor explicitly state he will not copy a question from the OG into the forum refering to OG questions only by their page and question numbers.

As with life, it's hard to come up with a clear answer. However, I am highly certain that distributing full books in pdf format is illegal. Additionally, any scoretop stuff (my gut tells me the 1000 series is the work of scoretop) should be avoided.

Hopefully, I can take some law courses at business school!

I'm just annoyed that by illegally sharing materials, GMAT takers with less integrity are in essence, scr_wing over GMAT takers who have more integrity. Ultimately, I'm sure this practise inflates percentile boundaries.

codesnooker, not all men are born with values.

So sometimes people can not help themselves about who they really are...

I am hope the ADCOM people are able to see through people when they give them a spot in their programs to educate them as a businessman.

But hey, stealing is a business too right ?

I forgot that! My bad.

Dear Logitech

In my view, if all men are not born with values then also all men are not born with evil thoughts. I believe that it's what that man perceives from his surrounding then again the decisions he made in that conditions. An infant when step in this world is not someone's enemy but still later on people fight with each other.... you know better. Also even sometimes people took wrong decision because as if no choice. So who is wrong human being or his surrounding or.... :D

No idea!!! I think there is vast gap between the definition and the reality. Is the person who steals the bread because of starvation and inability to buy his bread, is called stealing or is the shopping mall that charges 'N' times to real price for a commodity is called stealing (in business terms it is called as commodity trading) or do we should called the act of running away from the responsibilities is termed as stealing or do we called the act of using the illegal ways to save the tax to be payed to the government that usually most of the business do.............. many more to go. It's not possible, at least for me, to coin every definition over here... It's too complex for me. :D

Also it is difficult to say whether life is fair enough or not, I am inexperienced to comment on that.

Anyway whatever it is, I just wish from everyone, that sometimes (I know it's difficult to do every time) if we can help others irrespective of our own benefits then may be we wouldn't become true business man in life but we can definitely become true human being. The reason I stated this because I feel it's more important to remove the cause that leads the person to the path of stealing something rather than hating the persons those who steal.

Give a fair chance to everyone... even to those who can't afford to buy that book. May be that increase the competition for someone but why to run away from competition. Let the knowledge and determination decide the true winner... not just someone's fate. If we run away from true competition then may be we win at this stage, but nature has his own balance formula, and mark my words, one day nature will balance the someone's false wining.

PS: Om Bhoorbhuvasvah Om Tatsat viturvarenyam Bargo
Devasya Dheemahi Diyo yonah Prachodyath

The meaning of the above, is that, the ray of light makes the food through plants, in that food again when the oils are lighted in a lamp give again light. When this lighted lamp burns slow and steadily only all the things are burnt to back to their normal elements. If the same thing burnt instantaneously lot of heat and other powders and gasses are more. Life of other kind depend on these foods which we call veg's most of the the life on this earth depend on the life which depends on the one's which consume veg or non-veg, accordingly their mentalities also.

The people of the superior genes are also just like the lighted lamp, they spread their knowledge of wisdom like wise, to remove the darkness in the minds of other fellow beings.

Good luck to everyone. If no one interested in answering your question, ping to me, I will try to do at my best and as earliest as possible irrespective of any gains in return.

I'm so glad this isn't an AWA question! I respect your comments and admire your considered approach. There is a lot to absorb in so I won't comment now. Suffice it to say, I empathise but I cannot support illegal/immoral activity (yes I realise the definition of both of those is up for debate as well!).

No easy answer but that's why I'm going to business school - to help me make reasoned choices and to understand others' point of view. I hope I'm halfway there already ;-)

And in case you're wondering, yes... I'm hoping to go to business school and come out making a tangible change in the world ;-) For now, I have to conquer CR with the tools I have available (gosh I really wish I could get the PowerScore CR Bible for free!!).

This is the sort of stuff we would debate in our study group - brilliant!!
