So dogged were Frances Perkins' investigations of the garment industry, and her
lobbying for wage and hour reform was persistent, Alfred E. Smith and Franklin D.
Roosevelt recruited Perkins to work within the government, rather than as a social
worker.

A. and her lobbying for wage and hour reform was persistent,
B. and lobbying for wage and hour reform was persistent, so that
C. her lobbying for wage and hour reform persistent, that
D. lobbying for wage and hour reform was so persistent,
E. so persistent her lobbying for wage and hour reform, that

The correct idiom is So X That Y.

So X that Y idiom is violated. "That" is missing.

Lacks Parallelism. So x, So z, that Y

D. lobbying for wage and hour reform was so persistent,
So X that Y idiom is violated. "That" is missing.

Left with E after POE.

The answer should be B in my opinion because the "comma" before "so that" is a correct structure. E is wrong because there is no "comma" before "that" in a "so X that Y" idiom

If E indeed is OA then i think this sentence must be part of some poem or informal narration of tv show....


by the way what set is it?
i think you should be very careful about learning from reputated sources only....
There are so many companies and some companies make question intensionally hard to show they are good that they forget the real thing.It is for GMAT.(which sought right among rights and precise one)

so,be careful with the source.

This is very good advice, but it is not that exceptional to extend the "So X . . . that Y" construction with more "so". "So X and so Y that Z" is fairly common; if the sentence is indeed missing the "and" (so X, so Y, that Z), then it is a more poetic usage.

i knew that it must be something like that

any way as Expert has suggested,it is not wrong but it is not common i guess

I dont like it as it is not parallel

I think gmat loves this style.
Any way just what i feel but i guess it is not madatory.
