Thanks. I actually interviewed with the assistant director of admissions. I also spent the remainder of the day with a current student and she told me that she heard about 2 weeks after her interview. I hope to hear by the 23 or so.

How long to hear after an interview?

How long does it usually take to hear from a school after an interview? I sent a thank-you note to the person that I interviewed with and she responded with all of the pleasantries, and said that I should hear from her regarding admissions shortly. Shortly can be 2 weeks to a month, as far as I can ...

You could also use volunteering experience as an example of leadership. For example, in my applications, I could have provided examples from work, school projects, research that I have conducted through a lab. However, all of this came back to my career or research related to my career interests. Th...

I spent one week for each school. I wrote for two hours Monday-Friday. Then edited all of the content on Sunday. However, I also read each essay about 10 times before sending out my apps, in order to eliminate any blemishes.

Good luck.

Pathak, I think that you are making a mistake here. I don't think that you should focus on what to say and not to say in the essay. Instead, focus on telling a compelling, honest, and detailed story. Adcoms do not look for students who tell them the same thing and in the same way. Instead, I think t...

Wow! That is awesome. Your story certainly goes to show quite a few people on this forum that B-school admissions is more than just the GMAT. I have seen so many people on this site report a 700+ score followed by something along the lines of "Harvard, here I come..." only to be disappoint...

One of the things that many people overlook about rankings is that there is a certain level of embeddedness to them. Most of the schools ranked are the same from the last 5 to 10 years. There is certainly a feedback cycle that is present in what rankings do to the whole system of business schools. F...

Pace is not a bad school. However, I would not consider it for an MBA/MS. It certainly puts a limit on where you can go in your career.

The note about job fairs is certainly a valid point. However, if you are thinking of moving to another company, why do you plan to stay with your present employer?

Thanks. I got all of my aps in by R1. I actually just got an interview invitation from one of the schools that I was a bit worried about at first. But, like I said, the director of a research lab that I joined, wrote a recommendation for me and from what I understand, it was quite strong. Best of lu...

Re: More Info

Of course! I think I was so excited to get in (Duke was my first choice) that I didn't give any details. I am a 24 year old white female, and I majored in Biochemistry, Biophysics and Molecular Biology. I had a 3.40 undergraduate GPA, and then I got a certificate in Biochemistry where my GPA was 3....

Recommendation letters - A CAUTIONARY TALE

We all know about the importance of reference letters. Therefore, it is usually a very good idea to start thinking about whom you are going to ask way ahead of time. It is a good idea to give your recommenders at least 6 to 8 weeks to write the letter, and is an even better idea to get in contact an...

I have heard that getting a very high score is almost like getting a low score. In both situations, you have to have a very strong application. I find it a bit strange. However, if I had to guess... Most of the high scores come from folks in mathematics and engineering, and there are so many of them...

I'm in my 20s and have the buzz on all of the latest stuff that you need for your MBA. The word on the street has it that you absolutely cannot survive without an SCTD. Without it, you will not be able to get any work done on time or be able to participate in all of the student clubs. SCTD, or strat...

Hey orange, Based on some recent conversations with MS grads in Philly, I would have to agree with Lisa. MBA programs look at your professional experience as well as your GMAT and essays. I would say that GMAT and essays are tied for second most important. MS programs, on the other hand, look at you...
