Sending GMAT scores

I am scheduled to take the GMAT on May 5th. I'm not feeling overly confident at the moment but I'm about to really kick butt and crank down on the studying the next two weeks.......anyho....

I was wondering - do I have to send my scores to schools I'm interested in? Should I send them regardless or not? I know I'll have to take it again, which is fine with me. Life has been a bit crazy for me lately so I haven't had the time to truly hard core study but I have been here and there.

Any advice?

DEFINITELY send your scores to the schools you're interested. They are going to see all of your GMAT scores, even if you decide to retake.

If you submit your scores the day of the test, you could be saving yourself a lot of money. I think it's $50 per school later on?

Hi
Maybe this is not a good advice but I am thinking next time I am not sending my scores before I see them. Since this will be my second time taking the exam, somehow the fact that I can decided whether or not sending the scores to the school I am planning to do my studies makes teh whole experience less stressful for me. It is almost that I have more control so I will not look "stupid" again if I get a low score. :oops:

Anyway, this is just a matter of personal preferences. I rather pay the $50.

I understand this point of view--in fact, for my own GMAT, I didn't send in my scores because of the same reason. I was a little freaked out about the test and I wanted to review my results prior to submitting.

In hindsight though, I realize that this really didn't make a difference. Any school I apply to will see every GMAT I've taken, so I wished that I had just saved some money and submitted.

If this is too stressful for you to do--then maybe it would be to your advantage not to submit. You need to have as strong a mindset as possible for the exam!

So even if we don't submit them to the schools they still can see our score each time we take it?

Right
becasue the report will show all the previous exams you have taken, actually not all since the scores are only good for 5 years...the report did not show my first GMAT I took back in 1998, but at least you will have an opportunity to review the scores first. I don't know, for me it makes sense send the scores later.

Okay - so let's say I don't send them to my pick of schools - and I do obtain the score I'm trying to reach (hahahaha), won't they still see it even if I don't send them to them? Or do I have to officially send the scores to them?

You still have to send your scores to those schools--and these schools will see all your GMAT scores from the last 5 years.

There's no real reason not to "send" the scores when you take the test. Technically, you're not sending anything - what you're doing is giving the schools permission to access your scores in an online database. The schools will see a list of all scores and cancelled tests for the past 5 years. Unfortunately, you have no control over what they do and do not see.
