In all the explanations above, nobody mentioned why B was rejected.
Why is to help preferred to as help.
ALso, is the phrase to help find correct ?

What's wrong if we use pigeons with the usage "as help to find" ?
They ARE being used as aid. Aren't they ?

Aide is different from aid .It changes the meaning of the sentence . There is also something called equivalent elements error that is explained by Veritas . You cant train an animal/bird as an aide . Aide is used for people.Aide is more synonymous with domestic help or something like that.Even if the above dont count , the foremost reason for eliminating B is that A expresses the same thing more directly .dhonu121 wrote:Thanks for answering.mundasingh123 wrote:to help find is a coorect idiomdhonu121 wrote:In all the explanations above, nobody mentioned why B was rejected.

In B, as help to find seems better than A, to help find.
Had the structure in A been, to help to find or to help in finding it would have been undisputably correct.
The whole reason I am confused between A and B is mentioned above.
Also, the logic that animals cannot be trained as help does not seem very convincing to me.
How about this: The army used dogs as help to find enemy's hidden camps.
I am asking all this so that, If I face similar structure , I am confident in choosing the right answer.
Thanks in Advance.
