I am confused bw A & B, can somebody put some more light on greater/more and which one is correct over here???????

im sure this must have been discussed in BTG too before but cudnt get one whr any expert had given the inputs. if anyone please do help us out.
Someone probably had mentioned this above but the major difference between A and B is 'greater than' v. 'more than.'
The subject that we are talking about in this sentence is RATE which is a singular/non countable subject.
'Greater than' describes a non-countable subject (subject that are singluar such as rate, water, food).
'More than' should be used to properly describe a countable subject (subjects that are plural such as cats, dogs, cars, etc)
Because Rate is singular greater than is appropriate and thus our answer A!
