When we're asked to infer on RC, we have to think - what MUST be true? An inference is something that is not directly stated, but can be held to be true based on other information given. We can eliminate any answers that might not be true.
The passage defines odorants as "chemicals that are consciously detected as odors." If "some researchers" classify pheromones as odorants, then it MUST be true that they believe that pheromones are consciously detected as odors.
A. - says exactly this
B. - the VNO has nothing to do with what "some researchers" believe from the highlighted sentence. The word "most" also cannot be supported.
C. - again, we can't support "most," and again it has nothing to do with "some researchers."
D. - different species are irrelevant here.
E. - we can't infer anything about the response.
