The network determined that seventeen commercials should be shown during a half-hour sitcom, while a one-hour drama can be expected to contain twenty-nine.

A: seventeen commercials should be shown during a half-hour sitcom
B: in a half-hour sitcom seventeen commercials will be shown
C: in a half-hour sitcom, seventeen commercials should be shown
D: seventeen commercials should be shown in a half-hour sitcom
E: seventeen commercials will be shown by a half-hour sitcom

OA: B

I couldn't able to eliminate.

If so ...
I believe that all the choices follow this parallelism.

Thanks for details

In "a one-hour drama" => "one-hour" is adj and "drama" is noun
In "in a half-hour sitcom seventeen commercials" => "half-hour' is adj and "sitcom" is noun

this comparison is fine for me.

Is "seventeen commercials" a subject and "in a half-hour sitcom' is adj?

Is something being compared here..?

parallelism seems to be logic but still runoff

I am confused. The sentence contains should be shown whereas B contains will be shown - doesn't it change the meaning of the sentence.
The network determined that something should be shown - means it is not necessarily currently true.

Please explain.

should be and can be should be parallel
One more thing if we say something in past for th future such as in this case determined then then future verb tense should be should or would
it should be during a half-hour sitcom and not in a half hour sitcom

I've been asked via PM to address this issue.

In common speech, we use 'should' to indicate probable but uncertain likelyhood. However, this usage is stylistically undesirable. On the GMAT, 'should' will be used to refer to the right, proper, or recommended course of action (rather than merely the likely one.)

As already discussed earlier in this forum - Should is moral obligation .Eliminating A , C , D

Left with B and E . E is passive and changing the meaning .

So we are left with B
