Dr. Hegsted argues that just as polio vaccine is given to every person to protect the few who might actually contract polio, mass dietary change is needed to protect the significant number who are susceptible to the life-threatening effects of press eating habits
Here we are comparing two opposite effects. Polio is actually affecting a few but dietary change is affecting a significant number. So D might be correct answer. I am not sure.
Someone throw some light.

The reason is INSTEAD OF is a proposition and needs to be followed by a NOUN , limitings its usage compared to Rather Than, which can be used to compare clauses.bluementor wrote:Logitech, why do you say that? Is this true in any case?logitech wrote: and also this option uses INSTEAD OF, which is less preferable compared to RATHER THAN

Don't we need "so" to complete the idiom "just as ......so....."? A does not satisfy this. Then why is (A) correct?apoorva.srivastva wrote:Dr. Hegsted argues that just as polio vaccine is given to every person to protect the few who might actually contract polio, mass dietary change is needed to protect the significant number who are susceptible to the life-threatening effects of press eating habits.
(A) just as polio vaccine is given to every person to protect the few who might actually contract polio
(B) like polio vaccine, which is given to every person to protect the few who might contract polio
(C) similar to polio vaccine which is given to every person in order to protect the few who might actually contract polio
(D) while, to protect the few who might actually contract polio, polio vaccine is given to every person
(E) similar to the giving of polio vaccine to every person in order to protect the few who might contract polio actually
I'm confused between A and B
The OA is A
Kindly Explain as to why is A the right OA and not B
regards,
apoorva
