IMO A

A over B bcoz
Based on is correct idiom

C, D, E are out bcoz such as is used for giving examples ..............and galapagos tortoise is used as an ex of reptiles....

can u provide OA pls???

Scientists estimate on the basis of growth rates.

IMO B."Based on" incorrectly modifies scientists.

also, can we take into account parallelism as another error i.e based on "the growth rates" + "the excavations" . Since "the" is missing before excavations, can we also use this as an eliminiator?
