Just to add my two cents to aim-wsc and Prasanna:
I don't think that the quality of discussion has degraded at all since allowing guest posting. I think it's actually improved the community by bringing more people into discussion. Moreover, I've seen plenty of guests contributing advice as well as asking for help. Even if users only come here to ask for help--I welcome them. We don't ostracize anyone here, but encourage questions and support.
Since implementing guest posts--#of daily posts, traffic and new user registrations have increased sharply. I'm convinced that the more people and opinions we can draw to this forum, the richer the overall experience for everyone.
