Gas hydrate prblem

Dear Friends,

I was having problems in answering the following question.

Gas hydrates, chemical compounds of water and natural gas, are increasingly being
studied for their potential to be huge reservoirs of energy, possibly causing sea floor
instability, and significant contributors to global warming.

A. to be huge reservoirs of energy, possibly causing sea floor instability, and
B. to be huge reservoirs of energy, possibly causing sea floor instability, and even as
C. as huge reservoirs of energy, possibly causing sea floor instability, and
D. as huge reservoirs of energy, and the possible cause of sea floor instability,
E. as huge reservoirs of energy, as possible causes of sea floor instability, and even as


Please help.

I think the sentence requires the verb as,therefore left with C,D&E option out of which C is the best......

IMO E

A) not parallel: to be smth, doing smth and smth. it should be " to be smth, smth and smth"
B) out, because not parallel: "to be" and "as";
C) not parallel: one more "as" should be used after the last "and" just to maintain parallelism;
D) as in C, in D "as" is lacking;
E) i think this is the correct answer!

although i always use "potential" with "for", not with "as"!

IMO E - A typical question to test parallelism and Option E is the only sentence with a parallel structure.

as ..as ..as parallelism in E.It is correct.

"Potential to" and "potential as" both are correct.

Potential to + verb

potential as + noun

Here "as" is correct as "huge reservoirs of energy" is a noun phrase. So we are left with C,D and E.

Only E maintains parallelism.
