Recommendation Letter from Boss who left company

Hello,

I started looking at the recommendation letters for schools that I am applying to. HBS for instance says that recommendations should be uploaded through a corporate email address, instead of Gmail, yahoo etc.

If my recommender is a boss who has left the company, will it be looked down upon that the reference is uploaded from a gmail account?

Contact the admissions department for this one. They may just have you write a quick blurb in your optional statement. My guess is that they deal with this type of situation all of the time - the work force is fairly transient these days.

As Jim correctly pointed out, contacting the admissions office would be the best thing to do.
They might as you to clarify this in the optional essay.

No, I don't think it will be looked down upon. However, many schools say that if the recommender uses a personal email address, they might do additional verification. Not sure what that always looks like, but I did have a client in this boat once and the school simply called the recommender to confirm a few things. No big deal, it happens, the admissions office knows how to deal with it.
