Sid,

First, remove the thought from your mind that getting the first question wrong would screw your test. Absolutely wrong.
One question cannot be the reason for a test disaster. Even if you get the first question wrong you loose nothing if you do the other pretty well. So i would take that thought out of my mind if i have to retake the test.

Second, NEVER ever try to predict your progress in your test. Once you have answered a question and confirmed it - FORGET it!!! Think about will not only ruin your remaining time but also will take away your concentration off the question at hand.

Third, 690 is a pretty darn good score.. There are people admitted to the top 3 schools in US with that score. I personally know of peeple with a 680 getting into H/W/S.

And for CR some LSAT materials can help you with your preparation as they normally tend to be tougher!!

well i am an indian guy with just 3 years of work ex and engineer (though from a premier institution)... so that makes me compete with some of the highest scorers on the test.... stories of ....i know a guy who got 650 and got through harvard do not apply to blokes like me...... i am more of a kind i got a 740 and still is tentetive to make through a good college....... thats the reason i am upset... also i know that i have a potential to do much better... but ne how thanks so much for your kind words... they are really soothing.....
now some questions.. what are prospects about IE spain and insead with this score....
and second question do most of top univs(top 10 in US and top 5 in Europe) take average of your gmat scores or your highest score or your most recent score.......

Well that what you need to work on - confidence in yourself. Everybody is different and you need to rediscover yourself and know how different you are from that other guy who scored a 750!!!

BTW i just attended adcoms of both IE(met in person) and INSEAD(met vitually). They both had the same opinion on GMAT. in their own words "GMAT is just a tool to judge how good you are quantitatively and to know how you would do with our hectic course load." Matter of fact the lady from INSEAD told me "Dont worry too much about the GMAT. As long as you have a decent score of above 70percentile in each section you should be fine. Concentrate on the other parts of the application process." So that must give you a viewpoint. No idea about the other schools. Although you can post your queries in the Ask a Admission consultant section and you are sure to get some quality advice!!!

690 is a pretty good score. If you were able to score a 690 despite all the setbacks you mention and the lack of practice, I'd say you're quite capable of scoring much higher.

I wouldn't worry too much if I were you. Some candidates are nervous the first time and significantly improve their score the second time around.

If you want to improve on CR, I'd recommend Powerscore's CR Bible. In my opinion it's the best out there.

Also, INSEAD's middle 80% GMAT score range is 650- 750.
