The use of HAS LED indicates that the change in dialects is an on-going process. Eliminiate A,B and C

Between D and E

perpetuating by..is incorrect , so choose (D)

which: introduces non-essential clause. The use of which is wrong here.

variations which originate from diverse ethnic

variations can not originate something. We either need a passive voice or a modifier clause.

It seems like you need the HIDDEN thing ;-) Was it the presumed parallelism between ORIGINATED AND perpetuated

The hidden aspect is also exhibited by one of OG problems

"perpetuated" is not a verb in this particular sentence . if u see it , its used as an adjective modifying "regional dialects, language variations".

In all the option A, B, C "originate" in verb form we need an adjective for parallelism .

Not sure about the source .. but to be honest .,, i have read this question on some other forum ( i think gmat club/testmagic) and think the explanation was right ..

If u ask my call had i not read that post before .. i would have eliminated just the way logitech has done .. but having read it .. and logitech has answered it ... so thought to put the other perspective ..

Do let me know what u feel and what u think might be wrong ?

i go for B. the language variation stuff seems to modify dialects.

A. which originate from x and y and perpetuated by z. not parallel

B. that (has) originated from x and y and (has) perpetuated by z. parallel

C. we need a that or a which to join it to the main clause

D. originating from x and y and perpetuated by z not parallel.(active and passive)

E. originating from x and y and perpetuating by z. apparently parallel. but the correct usage is "perpetuated by"

Yaa ! originating is pointing to on going process but wit hthe flow of the sentence we need originated ! so straight rest is elliminated ! and C seems to modify ! languages !

Should be D.

The thing to note here is that 'Perpetuated' is being used as a past participle(adjective), modifying 'Dialects' or rather qualifying the 'Dialects', I should say.

The increased popularity and availability of televisions has led to the decline of regional dialects, language variations which originate from diverse ethnic and cultural heritages and perpetuated by geographic isolation.
(A) which originate from diverse ethnic and cultural heritages and perpetuated
-> Conflicting tense.

(B) that originated from diverse ethnic and cultural heritages and perpetuated
->'Originated' is simple-past verb while perpetuated is an adjective. Violates the parallelism.

(C) originated from diverse ethnic and cultural heritages and perpetuated
->'Originated' is simple-past verb while perpetuated is an adjective. Violates the parallelism.

(D) originating from diverse ethnic and cultural heritages and perpetuated
->Both originating as well as perpetuated are adjectives. Parallelism is maintained.
-> Correct option

(E) originating from diverse ethnic and cultural heritages and perpetuating
-> 'Perpetuating by' is not correct(is awkward) usage)

I don't see any violation in paralellism here.
As Scooby have said, the underlined phrase is modifier, so B looks like the best option.
