"Preferred Candidate" mail from Notre Dame admissi

Hi,

I received a mail from the director of admissions that goes like this...

"The University of Notre Dame MBA Program, through the Graduate Management Admission Search Service, has identified you as a Preferred Candidate.

What that means is that candidates who fit your profile have been admitted in the past and frequently awarded a fellowship to our program. While I cannot guarantee outcomes, I hope you will take the time to see if our program is a good fit for you."

What exactly does this mean? I just want to know if anyone has any idea, before I write back to Notre Dame.

Post Rishi Raj, he had an admit from mendoza with $$ which he turned down last year. BTW the school is good.

Though It reads and seems an Admit Call. Its not

ND does that every year on year. They send this email to 1000+ applicants, 90% of those get WL or denied.

Thanks, Alex. I read the EXACT same sentence you posted on the web. You only posted it? Also, Notre dame is ranked 4th in ethics. So I don't think it would be that ironic. Accordong to business week, Notre dame got only 1000+ applications last year. how can they wait list 90% of them?
