Hello Stacey,

I applied to Goizueta in the early round and have also applied to Kellogg in the first round.

Here's my profile:

EDUCATION:
Ranked third in my undergraduate program among a pool of 150 students.
Scored a 79% in B comm (from India)
Was elected as the Class representative and member of the students planning committee for estra curricular.

Experience:
Designation: Management Trainee at Genpact.
Role and responsibility: Training process owner for a dept at Genpact with ~80 employees, improving performance through training, coaching and feedback, driving adherence to compliance requirements, people development through training in areas such as soft skills, etc.

Worked at Genpact through my undergraduate study. Total of 2.5 yrs FT and 2 yrs PT work experience.

Community involvement:
conducted two hours of after school classes for children in a school where I worked PT for during my UG.
I also take sessions on soft skills for students from local college though this is not often.

GMAT: 740 Q-49 V-41 AWA-5

I received a wait list offer from Goizueta and waiting to be interviewed by Kellogg.

Is there anything that I can do to improve my candidacy for Goizueta. what I can do now to see a positive result from Kellogg?

Appreciate your help. Thanks so much.

Best, Shajji Razzaq Mohammed

Missed the below information.

My post MBA goal is to start a BPO company of my own here in India. The reason for choosing Kellogg and Goizueta was their collaborative culture and team spirit.

At work, I have constantly been involved in running various employee engagement initiatives regularly to keep the employees motivated and engaged at work.

Oh yes, I was also bestowed with the Best student award for academics and contribution to college community.

Thanks once again.

Hi,

Thanks for your post. Without reviewing your essays, it's a bit difficult for me to assess the true reason you have been waitlisted. Typically applicants are waitlisted for one of two reasons - the first is there is a flaw or a weaknesses that needs to be addressed. This can be anything from vague goals to a low GMAT score. Typically adcoms expect applicants to pick up on these issues themselves and address them accordingly. The second main reason applicants are waitlisted is the most difficult - for no real reason other than they have a large applicant pool. Sometimes adcoms waitlist perfectly great candidates simply due to capacity issues or a failure on the applicants part to truly stand out in the applicant pool. When this is the case waiting is often the only thing to proactively do.

It's always best to respect the waitlist policy of the school. Some schools have a no contact policy, while others are open to receiving additional information and even go as far as offering specific feedback.

The best place for you to start is to look at your essays. You seem like a solid candidate in terms of academics and professional experience. Perhaps your goals essay wasn't as direct as it could be. Or perhaps you had a weak example/topic in another essay. The ability to be introspective and figure this out will help you figure out your approach in this situation. Lastly, you could always send your application to a consultant and get a detailed analysis as well as strategic advice on how to manage the waitlist process.

Best,

Stacey
