Profile eval : Indian Female - R&D, IT , 710

Hi,

1. I am an Indian female with 7 years of work experience in research and Development, Software Products at a top Multinational in India.

2. I gave the GMAT and secured a 710.

3. Academic Record : Merit Scholarship holder throughout my education
School Topper, College topper with 81.1% in B.E. Computer Engineering from a top league institute in India.

4. Work Experience : 7 years in R&D as a Computer Scientist. Presently working in the Licensing software and Anti piracy initiatives. Have been a consistent high performer with respect to my peers.

5.Achievements :
-5 patents filed in the US Patent office in last 2 years.
-Technical papers have been published in journals
-Winner of many bonus and awards at work


6. Extra curricular : Associated with Women in Technology Groups, organizing & participating in creative and cultural events at school, college and work, blogging, community volunteering by teaching children on weekends.

And I have a strong reason why I want to do an MBA.

Target Schools : ISB, London Business School, Nanyang Business School, NUS, INSEAD

I know the admission to these colleges is tough, but I would like your input on whether I have a chance or not.

Hi Sunita,

Thanks for your post. You certainly appear to have a solid profile. Your work experience and solid academics are two great assets and will certainly help boost the appeal of your applications.

I think you can certainly be competitive for admission at the schools on your list. The key for you is to find ways to stand out in the applicant pool. Perhaps some of your extracurricular activities, such as teaching children, could make for good essay topics. You'll also want to have clear and logical goals and be able to demonstrate a connection between what you've been doing and what it is you wish to do post MBA (you didn't share this information so this is just some basic advice).

It sounds like you've already decided on your school list. Just be sure to do lots of research and go beyond school websites. You want to clearly demonstrate a connection to each school in your application so that they know that you will make a solid contribution to their community.
