Ideally it should be 25% but what about when the sum comes to zero. Say y = -127 then Sum = 0 and Average = 0. In this case the percentage is undefined.

methodical solution :
always do this for such questions.

average of 4 nos = z% of sum of 4 nos

solve for Z

(12+y+39+76)/4 = z/100 * (12+y+39+76)

C

I agree but this will hold true Provided (12+y+39+76) not equal to Zero.
