A certain club has exactly 5 new members at the end of its first week. Every subsequent week, each of the previous week's new members (and only these members) bring exactly x new members into the club. If y is the number of new members brought into the club during the twelfth week, which of the following could be y?
(A) 3^11 × 5^11
(B) 3^11 × 5^12
(C) 3^12 × 5^12
(D) 30^12
(E) 60^12

so new members in the end of nth week 5x^(n-1)

only option B can be expressed in this form
hence ans option B

IMO B;

the no. of members brought during 12th week= X^11*5

there has to be an additional 5.

Yeah, but where did you get it? I don't know the source anymore after I printed it.
Now I am not sure if these problems are worth doing.
Its #5 on my document, but I don't know where I printed this document.

I receive doubts as pm, reply to those accordingly; and forward the possible GMAT queries here. It's a possible GMAT query, which is more important for me to know than the source.
