IMO B.

I narrowed down to B & D initially. I felt B does a good job in filtering down to the one person who is blind. D I feel is awkward.

B

one of them (plural presenters) who

who is apporpriate here than whom

My strategy:

Read everyhting after who/whom with he or him and see which one makes sense.

He is blind therefore who is blind

I am sure there may be other ways also.

Regards,
CR

I choose D between B and D.
For the reason that B seemed wordy.
"One of whom" is perfectly alright. Whom correctly refers to the plural Presenters.

I also chose D at the first place coz 'whom' refers to presenters and one of whom clearly indicates that he is one of the presenters.
i didn't selected B coz i feel it is awkward ' one of them who '.

experts please explain the ambiguity here!

Hi Vemuri,

Realized my mistake also.

Referring back to my notes I feel oa D is correct.
Rule:
quantifier (one) + of+object (whom)

whom is an object pronoun whereas who is a subject pronoun

The rule for he->who and him->whom works almost always with some notable exceptions(as in the example above)

After a preposition the rule is to use object pronouns if my memory serves me right.

Hope this helps!

Regards,
CR

True Cramya. The object pronoun was the need in the sentence.

Similar question is in OG 11 as well
"Whom" is correct here as its object pronoun.

@ Cramya:

Can you state the source of your rule. (object pronoun to succeed preposition)

Simplifying the sentence:
One of the presenters will demonstrate adaptive equipment.

One of the presenters = subject.
hence who should be used for subject pronoun (whom is for object pronoun)
(MGMAT pronoun chapter)

kindly clarify.

Background -
object pronoun -
1. he loves her (object of verb)
2 .he is crazy after her (object of preposition)
There is no other instance in english where an object form of pronoun is used

Current problem
Presenters at the seminar, one who is blind, will demonstrate adaptive equipment that allows visually impaired people to use computers.
A. one who
B. one of them who
C. and one of them who
D. one of whom
E. one of which

we need "one' to be a subject of the second clause.. we need the construction where one is part of a subgroup - presenters and hence we need to use "one of" .. which need "whom" the object of preposition

if the sentence was
The Presenter one who is blind, will demonstrate adaptive equipment that allows visually impaired people to use computers.
we could have used "one who" who modifying "one"[/list]
