"Being" is almost never correct on the GMAT. There are rare exceptions, but I think I've only seen one sentence correction question that had "being" in the answer choice. Furthermore, "being" doesn't add anything to the SC question. B,D, and E are gone. C is just too wordy. That leaves 'A', and 'Mrs Newland' appears to be appropriately placed immediately after the modifying phrase.
