Yesterday I wrote my gmat for the second time and scored 720(q 47 , v 42). The first time
I attempted the gmat on 27 feb 2013 and had scored 650( q47, v34). Although I am happy
with the improvement of an overall 70 points with 8 points increase in verbal I am
anxious because there is no improvement in the quant score and was wondering whether this
is going to hamper my chances of admission into top 20 schools.
My background: I am a 27 years old Indian female with 3 years of work experience in IT
industry. I also hold a ME degree in computer science from Cornell University. My GPA was
73.9 % in undergrads and in M.E it was 3.0 out of 4.3 . Sadly due to some family issues I
was not able to join a good IT company although I had offer from one and had to work in a
local company. Co curriculars are in moderate -good range although not extraordinary. I
volunteered in organizing the blood donation camps and have donated blood around 3 times
when I was in college and have won group discussion competitions at college level. I have
also participated in a marathon .Moreover I am a green peace India member from the past 4
years and learning jazz dance from the past one month.
With this background what are my chances of getting into top 20-25 schools and what are
my chances of getting a scholarship? Since my quant scores are not extraordinary should I
write gmat for the third time?
