Although aspirin irritates the stomach, it can be avoided if the aspirin tablet is given a coating that will not dissolve until the tablet reaches the intestine.


(B) The irritation of the stomach caused by aspirin

(D) Aspirin causes stomach irritation, although it

OA - B what is the issue with D? i got this question correct because 'although <some issue>, <some remedy>' looked better. I don't think 'it' has pronoun antecedent issue in D.[/spoiler]

Here is the complete question :
Although aspirin irritates the stomach, it can be avoided if the aspirin tablet is given a coating that will not dissolve until the tablet reaches the intestine.

(A) Although aspirin irritates the stomach, it - We are not really sure if IT refers to Aspirin or Irritation.
(B) The irritation of the stomach caused by aspirin - Correct answer
(C) The fact that aspirin causes irritation of the stomach - To wordy and it means THE FACT CAN BE AVOIDED
(D) Aspirin causes stomach irritation, although it We are not really sure if IT refers to Aspirin or Irritation.
(E) Aspirin irritates the stomach, which Which refers to the STOMACH

IMO B

I do not agree that It can refer to anything than Aspirin because there are 2 clauses and subject of one acts as antecedent for pronoun subject in other clause and thus no ambiguity.

If so is the case then you automatically answer that B is the right choice. Because in D "it" does refer to "Aspirin" and according to the question, "it" should refer to irritation (as in B).
