OG vs other text book

by awax22 » Wed Nov 14, 2007 2:31 am
Hello everybody,

I am writting this topic first to share my experience on preparing for the GMAT and also have your opinion about it.

I did all the questions on the OG and I also bought the Quantitative guide separately.
Besides that and actually prior to tackle the OGs (which I learn in here thank GOD I found this website.... it rocks!!!), I used Kaplan, Princeton review (and also a little but not much the Baron which I didn't like cuz I didn't find good).

The conclusion I have is that overall, the OG is much easier than the others. From all the preparation I have, the questions from Kaplan were more difficult I believe. The least I can say about them is that they weren't expressed as clearly and straight forward as in the OG.

Of course this opinion is biased because I started with the Kaplan and I might find it more difficult as I wasn't as much prepared as now (I hope).
But still it's my overall impression: the OG looks easier and so would the actual GMAT compared to the other preparation software (since the OG is very close to what would be given on the actual test).

So I guess my question is: is that what you all think as well (especially those who took the GMAT) ?

Any insight shared would be greatly appreciated....

Thanks again a lot

I definitely felt the same way you did when I studied for my test. The hardest practice tests I took were from Kaplan. PR was a little easier.

I think that my actual GMAT was very close in difficulty terms to GMATPrep. It was my impression that the last few questions in each section in OG resembled the questions I saw on the test...

Which version of the OG did you use? OG 10 is definitely too easy, but OG 11 is better.

So you mean, the actual test was harder than the first questions of the OG and equivalent to the lasts ?

I meant to say that the real test was equivalent to the last questions of each section in OG.

But that's just my perspective/experience--this opinion seems to vary widely amongst test takers...
