Today's tennis rackets, which come in a bewildering array of sizes, materials and prices, may not have improved players' games as much as they have boosted dealers' and manufacturers' profits.

comparison is not parallel.

This sounds best to me.
Rackets have not done as much in improving ... as in boosting....

IMO A as we are comparing the amount of boost tennis rackets have provided.
b)may not have improved a player's game as much as they have boosted
Many rackets affects only one player's game....??
c)may not have improved a player's game as much as it has boosted

but a player ca be representative of th whole lot right? ...

I am not sure how these new books would help a reader....it is good.

In A : "they" is confusing me.. I will opt it out.
B is okay
E is okay
I will say B > E as we are trying to say X is greater than Y. I also doubt rackets doing something.
