Pretty odd to get a 4.0 in Finance and then struggle on the math portion of the GMAT?

Scoring in the 30-36 range shows a lack of basic math knowledge.

Buy the Manhattan GMAT guide set - It's by far the best resource. If you go through all their guides, do all the homework out of the OGs, I will bet you score in the mid 40s easily.

It's not that I have a lack of basic math knowledge, it's really the time factor on the math. Many times, i go back and check my work and why I got certain answers wrong, and many times, I was on the way to the correct answer and my calculations were correct, but I just eventually would guess and move on to try and conserve time.

If the time constraints weren't so difficult, I would probably do better. All this said, I do agree that I've heard that the Manhattan GMAT is the best course out there. If I dont score 610 or better next Saturday, I am going to take that course and take it again, and then submit that to NYU. If I am unable to take the exam before May 15th (it's going to be hard, especially given that I havent even started the essays), then hopefully I can take and submit a higher score before a decision has been made.

Where are you located you may be able to pick up the MGMAT Study guides at a book store. Let's say you are in an area where that's a possibility, if you picked the books up today.. that would give you a solid 2 weeks to study the guides. If you have the time to spend studying that you say you do, then you should surpass 610, given your background.

Well, I may be taking the day off on Friday, so at least I will this entire 3 day weekend to really study. I may try and pick up those books today. Hopefully there's a B&N that has them. Thanks!

If not maybe you can have them rush delivered to your house. They're definitely valuable, but you wouldn't need the Foundations of math book... so you can save some money there...

So, I should just get all the Math Manhattan GMAT books, except for the Math Foundations ones?

I'm going to go to BN during my lunch break and pick them up, so please if anyone has any recommendations, let me know :)

Do you have any recommendations for which ones I should buy? Seeing as I only have just under 2 weeks left and want to really focus on math?

I think all four are helpful.... but if you want in order of what I deem importance....

1. Number Properties Strategy Guide - MUST
2. Word Translations Strategy Guide - VERY HELPFUL (Toughest book though, I think)
3. Equations, Inequalities, & VICs Strategy Guide
4. Geometry Strategy Guide - Not too necessary... Geometry is easy for me

I think if you go through those... and really take in the material... you'll break 600. What I'm doing is 3 problems a night from each chapter in each of the guides... then I'm going to drill problems from Quantitative Official Guide for GMAT Review (2nd Edition)
