NYU STERN langone program

What is your general opinion about the Langone MBA program at Stern?

It is a part-time MBA program but not an executive MBA program. But there seems to be very little discussion about it. The median age of the class is 28 which is similar to a full-time MBA class.

I am an engineer in the technology industry and plan to move into business development/product management/ventures within the technology industry.

What do you think are the disadvantages of a part-time program?

I don't know a lot about the NYU program however part-time programs can be great if you need to maintain your income and you have handle both school and work.

However, part-time programs often lack in networking opportunities both with classmates and with prospective employers. When you are with the same set of people for most of your classes for 2-years straight (as in most full-time programs) you tend to form a bond and a strong professional network. Schools also seek to actively place full-time students w/employers and therefore host a number of networking opportunities. Since most part-time students are staying with their current employer, there is not as much emphasis placed on career placement and networking opps.

Its rated as one of the top most Part Time programme with a good ROI. But if you are under 30 and considering to take up a MBA, its better to go for a full time. Most of the part time class age is 30+ and some even 34-35 and they take it bcoz they have a settled job and they need a part time either to get a raise and career push within their organization or once they complete they expect to be in thier own domain but get new responsibility. So it really depends in what stage of your career you are in and what you want from your MBA.?
