about GMATPrep software

by tanviet » Wed Dec 23, 2009 11:34 pm
I download GMATPrep software from mba.com and do the practice tests

I see the Math section of the test is more difficult than that in OG11. I find many question hard while I see questions in OG11 much more easy.

second,I missed many question in both math and verbal sections but I still score 590

I am supprised by these 2 things

Is the math section of GMATPrep is more difficult than that in OG11?

Scoring of GMATPrep is easy and we get higher score than in actual tests

Pls, comment.

Yes, Math section of GMATPrep is more difficult than that in OG11. IMO, OG has a wide range of easy questions. You can only find some good questions in the last set of Math problems. But keep in mind that actual GMAT math questions would be much more tougher than GMATPrep (I've personally experienced this. I've also heard many ppl saying this). So, it's better to change our mindset to expect more difficult problems in actual exam.

As far as scoring is concerned, i don't see any difference b/w GMATPrep and actual GMAT. Scoring mainly depends on how you answer various levels of questions. If you consistently answer set of 600-700 level questions and you fail to answer 700+ questions, you will get a score in the range 600-700.

And, btw please post your queries in the relevant folder. This must have been posted in "GMAT strategy". Anyways, pls keep this mind next time you post.

Hey,

I was wondering whether all the concepts (in full detail) explained in the math review section of the GMATPrep Software (from mba.com) are officially needed for the GMAT?

Just gearing up to start my GMAT studies and preparing to take a first practice test, so I wanted to check how much basic math review I need for a well-predicting score.

Thanks,
Simon
