More than 30 years ago Dr. Barbara McClintock, the Nobel Prize winner, reported that genes can "jump", as pearls moving mysteriously from one necklace to another.
(a) as pearls moving mysteriously from one necklace to another
(b) like pearls moving mysteriously from one necklace to another
(c) as pearls do that move mysteriously from one necklace to others
(d) like pearls do that move mysteriously from one necklace to others
(e) as do pearls that move mysteriously from one necklace to some other one
OA: [spoiler]B
My doubt is: OG says that As should be followed by Clauses which have subjects and verbs. In the above sentence, isn't (a) the correct answer using this logic ?

There is no verb in B that is why we can't use "as". "Moving" is not a verb. It is a participle.sands_of_time wrote:More than 30 years ago Dr. Barbara McClintock, the Nobel Prize winner, reported that genes can "jump", as pearls moving mysteriously from one necklace to another.

Remember a golden rule: "-ing forms are never verbs"
