Hi!

Schulich has a very strong reputation, both in Canada and internationally.

It's generally ranked as the 2nd-4th best Canadian school (depending on the ranking and your focus) and is always in the top 100 worldwide (usually in the top 50, sometimes higher depending on your area of focus).

If you look at https://www.schulich.yorku.ca/ssb-extra/ ... enDocument you can see some different rankings (although that's Schulich's own site, so I'm sure it only posted the top listings for itself).

I got in Schulich as well not sure if I`m able to leave for 2 yrs now... considering UBC part time... think I`ll have a shot if I got in Schulich

Schulich is a strong program. But I would definitely not put it into the top 2 in Canada. I would say it is a very strong contender for 3rd among some other schools (Queens / UBC / McGill etc). (u of Toronto and Ivey being the top 2)

A lot of my coworkers opt for Schulich because it is right next door from us. Generally, it is a decent program for folks who want to get an MBA and get back to the original employer or into industry (they offer an 8 month full-time accelerated program for business undergrads). If you are targeting banking or consulting nothing beats U of Toronto and U of Western Ontario (Ivey) in Canada. This is not to say that these career paths are out of the question at Schulich ... just a bit less frequent.

Just a personal observation from local research

Oh two more things: key advantages to Schulich

1) Program is super flexible when it comes to things such as international exchanges / switch from full time to part time and vice versa / summer school / and combined MBA and professional designations

2) lower tuition than Ivey and U of T

umm, interesting info. I know someone who teaches in Schulich. What would you say the minimum GMAT score would be to get into part time MBA in Schulich

If you know someone who teaches at Schulich ... then you will likely not be able to find a better source of info on this forum :-)

I don't know the minimum GMATs. I know that a friend of mine decided to do the accelerated program (only 8 mths FT if you have business undergrad) part-time. He had a 600 GMAT.

Having said that ...we work at a big company in Toronto and he had decent WE (3 yrs).
Recos were good from an Ivey and a Schulich Alumnus
Very good grades from Schulich undergrad.
He was admitted last yr.

it has a reasonably good reputation. but i think if you're looking for either ibanking or consulting work then you're better off with ivey/rotman in canada. my friend went to schulich and from what i see it doesn't have the same clout as ivey/rotman when it comes to reputation.

on the flip side there are tons of hot girls at york though. every ethnicity you can imagine.

B. School rankings

"International reputation" needs to be more specific. It depends where you want to work internationally.

Within Canada and the Northern US, I think that Rotman probably has the best reputation of Canadian schools. Following shortly thereafter is McGill - not because of its ranking, but because many Americans view McGill as the "Ivey League" Canadian school for some reason.

In Asia, Ivey has a strong reputation simply because they have a Hong Kong Campus. That being said, the Ivey program has lost a lot of its strength within Canada since it switched to an exclusively one-year program. Many iBank/consulting recruiters no longer recruit.

In the UK, Queen's probably has the strongest reputation because of its UK campus at Herstmonceux (sic).

It also depends on industry. For IT/Tech, Queen's is the best. For consulting, Rotman is the best. etc. etc.

Ive been accepted into Schulich as well.

Can anyone tell me about the campus (in York)? How far is it from downtown toronto? is it a nice/safe area?
Also, i was surprised that they didnt even interview me; also, i read alumni comments that many students don't even speak english, so im having 2nd thoughts.

I was accepted into McGill as well.
