you guys do not even know how much better i feel that i can bounce my ideas of someone who knows. Now i realize that i was just blindly doing things without any strategy and perhaps this what hurt me most.
so this is what i will do now. I will follow the advice and use OG.
Shall i study section by section or 25-40 questions from each section each day?
i will also start using excel grid and record answers. and will later on complement my studies with kaplan, and manhattan gmat books. So OG will be primary source.
But often i find that OG explanations are bad.. this is sad. Plus in powerprep test there are no explanations of correct answers.
also every week or twice a week i will take practice tests from manhattangmat and analyze. and then in august right before the actual test i will take the second power prep..
tell me if this makes sense!!! THANK GOD i found this site. I feel more confident now.
Need new strategy. PLEASE ASSIST

I think that if I had taken the GMAT more than several times and that I didn't improve my score much at all, I would try to find new material to study with for the test. I did take the GMAT before, but I didn't get the score I needed, so I did not use the same test prep material the next time.
I think that I would look for the test prep material that would fit your individual situation. If you took the test more than two or three times without a score improvement, I would definitely take a course. The only GMAT test prep program that I would tell somebody else to consider taking is Manhattan GMAT. I am telling you that because their program offers a well developed program with a structured study plan. In addition, their program was designed to give you the strategies and their own practice, problems sets, primarily so that you will be able to complete the questions and problems in the Official Guide to the GMAT.
You can take the MGMAT course in person or online. Their online course is actually a virtual online course where there are two live instructors teaching the course. If you have a PC and an internet connection, you can access that online course from anywhere in the world. I took that virtual online course, too. It really has worked out well for me. Please check out Manhattan GMAT. That GMAT prep program might just work out well for you and help you to get the score that you need.

till then you can read ''the editors choice'' section of my blog. : https://jc-gmat.blocked
Though you're (must be ) quite familiar GMAT, I'd recommend you to check ''Jack's story compiled'' and ''how to approach GMAT'' articles.

beatthegmat wrote:I second 800GMAT's wise advice--OG should be your primary focus. I would review OG throughout your prep and then work on the other books simultaneously...800GMAT wrote:I think OG should be at the top of ur list
Study and master relevant stuff first...thats OG
Master OG verbal and quant
use OG like a text book..
understand the explanation and reasoning for each and every question
if required repeat this entire process
dont try to study from every possible source..keep studies limited to only relevant GMAT stuff
After u master OG completely take another prep test from mba.com....I am sure ur score will improve...
This is my observation regarding GMAT preparation...you may follow what suits you the best ...Good Luck
can you guys tell me if i should study one section at a time like SC or RC or CR or quant or shall i do questions across sections when i sit down to study each day?
any advice will be appreciated.

I prefer studying one section at a time and focusing all your efforts on mastering that section. That's the strategy I used in my own prep, https://beatthegmat.blockedABMK wrote:beatthegmat wrote:I second 800GMAT's wise advice--OG should be your primary focus. No--I suggest learning the concepts and doing lots of practice questions simultaneously, one subject area at a time. Check out my blog to see an example of how this can be done...ABMK wrote:So you suggest not to do practice questions and start learning teh rules from OG and thn get on wiht practice sets?

have taken MGMAT untimed test:
Quantitative 40 61 %
Verbal 27 46 %
Total 550 54 %
Used spreadsheet to analyze results. For some reason in Power prep CAT 1 the problem solving was much lower than 40. Confused, are MGMAT tests easier?
