Hi All,

I have just appeared in my test yesterday and scored really bad even I was doing better in my practice tests. I do have fear of RC and CR .And i want to come out of it. I really studied hard for 4 months and finally no result. May be my strategies are not correct. Could experts please advice me to improve my strategies in RC and CR. I realy want to get good score :(

I dont want to get fail in my life again and again.

Could you share with us what you have studied so far? This way the experts can respond better to what might be lacking in your old studying habits and how you can improve them.

Hello
Have you looked at the materials under the resource tab (?) at

https://www.beatthegmat.com/mba/resources

I think the best way to improve on these section is by reading newspapers and magazines online, but you might also want to try out the Powerscore CR bible.
If my post helped you- let me know by pushing the thanks button ;)

I liked the short documents in the resource section that talk about how to read properly, that is, getting rid of subvocalization, back-tracking etc...

Received a PM asking me to reply. Yes, as others have noted above, we need more info in order to give you good advice.

You let me know that you don't want to post your real score on the forums, which is fine, but we do need to talk about certain things in general. From your PM, it sounds like your verbal score really dropped on the test. I can't tell what happened with your quant score - did it drop, too? Stay the same? Please let us know.

If you are willing to share your practice test scores here, please do so. This will really help us to figure out how to help you.

Read this article and do the analysis described. Then come back here and tell us what you figured out. We'll help you figure out what to do after that.

https://www.beatthegmat.com/a/2009/10/26 ... went-wrong

You list sources for both SC and CR, but not for RC - in terms of how to get better at RC, not just practice problems to do for RC. Did you have any book or resource that taught you strategies for tackling RC?

You have taken at least one MGMAT test; do the analysis described below on the most recent test that you took as close as possible to real testing conditions. Also, describe any ways in which you deviated from official testing conditions.

Hi Stacy,

My verbal score dropped a lot but my maths score was ok.It was 49.

My practice test scores are as follows

Gmatprep1 -660
Gmatprep2 -650

Manhattan were between ranges 620-670.
Kaplan cat1 -630
cat2 -690
cat3 -640

I got quite nervous during the exam and did not read verbal questions properly. My time management was not correct.

Please let me know how to improve time management and stress management.I used Manhattan for SC and powerscore for CR.

My RC is really poor. Most of the time I got stuck at primary purpose and inference question

Cheers,
Prachi

Okay, we've got some data to work with now. If you do the analyses described in the articles I linked in my last post, though, we'll be able to help you even more!

First, you need to identify something that teaches you how to do RC (similar to MGMAT for SC and PowerScore for CR). You can use anything you want - all the companies have books for RC - but you do need something to help you with these.

Here are some RC articles to get you started, but these are not enough by themselves. You need an actual, comprehensive book for this topic.

https://www.beatthegmat.com/mba/2010/04/ ... mp-passage
https://www.beatthegmat.com/mba/2010/07/ ... rc-passage
https://www.beatthegmat.com/mba/2010/02/ ... e-question

Next, here's an article on timing:

https://www.beatthegmat.com/mba/2009/12/ ... management

Those are good starting points, but if you want more specific advice that relates to your strengths and weaknesses, we need even more data. Do those analysis described in the two articles in my last post. It will take you probably at least an hour to do each one, and you're going to have to take notes while you do it - especially the one in which you analyze an MGMAT test.
