Hi all ....the above atleast 730 may sound funny....but the reason behind is yes i know i can get that.... but took the gmat today and scored 560 !!!! plz dont jump into conclusion after seeing my actual score!!! i know it may sound funny that i want a this big leap !!!! but the reason behind this is i havnt really never ever in my life scored such abysmal way..... i knw i cannot give any proof here but plz trust me....my target was 740 and i worked accordingly....(i knw i probably wasnt deserving that but atleast 690-710 was very much possible as that was my mock range)...verbal was a pain always with a 50/51 almost always in quant....

I just lost my patience today in between verbal....RCs looked impossible to me...my hit rate in OG-12 RCs were 80%.....but god knows wat happnd today...just lost it in between...

I hav been a silent observer here....and benefited a lot from this forum.... plz help me as i want to retake it by october 1st week....what strategy i shud adopt now....verbal killed me today with a 49 in quant......but such abysmal score in verbal is just unthinkable...i'm yet to come out of the shock and dn knw whether i'm making any sense rite nw... need help ...plz

Let me first say congrats on sitting down for an exam. You may not have gotten the score you were hoping for, but you went through the experience and now know what it is like. With hard work, I'm sure you can get your score up to your goal (just read the other posts of people that have done it!)

I think a few things to note would help here:
What was your breakout between Quant/Verbal for the actual exam?
What kind of scores did you get on practice exams and what did you use to study?

You already noted that verbal is your weaker area, so it sounds like you should definitely focus on that. I have heard people raving about the Manhattan GMAT sentence correction guide - I have studied it and sentence correction is still my weakest verbal area, so I'm probably going to look into some other sources.

I would note one other thing: I think timing is huge! I always had 10 minutes left for verbal on my practice exam, but on the actual exam I was completing the last question in 30 seconds! (I ended up with a 640, but my retake goal is 700). So for the next round, I am definitely going to work on timing and endurance. (Which, as you noted, you lost patience during verbal - which is extremely understandable after two essays and Quant - but I think practicing full timed tests would help with that).

u need to build ur stamina for the exam...since verbal comes after quant and AWA , it tests lot of patience
just cool urself and try to take some other books such as kaplan and check ur accuracy.
the main thing is if ur confident abt answering the verbal part correctly without pressure, then i feel shd take more practices tests under timed conditions

everybody goes through the bad patch :(
u will overcome it..relax and focus on stamina...just be confident abt ur abilities

Hi Monica and outreach, thank you so much for ur suggestions....yes somehow sorted myself a bit and started my prep again... :) .... yes as Outreach mentioned all that mattered for me was those 75 minute period for verbal...the biggest thing for me rite now is to build my stamina.... And Monica as u said i sud look for the other resources than manhattn SC guide ...it is undoubtedly a very good book but i think i sud consult other ones too......

the breakup of my actual exam score is Q49, V18( i never imagined such kinda score even existed !!)...my practice exam scores were like Q 50-51 and V 30-38.....total 660- 710..

cud u guyz plz suggest where from i sud practice RC?( other than OG)....

Thanks
