PR/GMAT/GMATPrep/MGMAT

by givemeanid » Thu Jul 19, 2007 8:30 am
Does anyone have their Princeton Review CAT scores along with GMAT/GMATPrep/MGMAT scores? I am trying to get an idea of how PR scores stack up. I know that PR doesn't mimic the real GMAT scoring algorithm but comparing them side by side to others might give some idea. Thoughts?

I have scored from 650 to 720 on PR and 720 on my first GMATPREP. I don't think PR is very accurate. I had one quant section where I missed 3 questions and scored a 42. In that section I got 2 out of 3 probability questions correct.

Both MGMAT tests have been 690. Missed the first question on a quant section and scored 42, but scored 45 on the second.

I actually have a different experience--I thought that PR produced scores that were fairly close to GMATPrep. Not as familiar with MGMAT practice tests though...

MGMAT

my opinion on mgmat is that the verbal is spot on to the real test. You can expect to get what you have been scoring on those verbals. The quant is harder on mgmat but if you get through a couple of their quant sections on their practice tests, the gmat quant will be much less stressful and time consuming. One time i had to guess on like 5 mgmat quants and on the real gmat I had like 5 mins left in quant when i ended.

Eric, I just finished the fourth (and last) PR CAT and I wouldn't mind too much if the PR scores are close to GMATPrep :) :) However, I feel the quant is relatively easier. Also, the test never seemed to get any harder as the it progresses even if you are answering the questions correctly. Was your experience any different?

Krazie85, I am thinking of getting the MGMAT test package (as a part of SC book). I am still working on my OG book and will probably get the MGMAT SC guide after that. So, I'll have to wait till I can take the MGMAT CATs.

Yes, I should clarify my earlier comment. I thought that the PR scores were relatively on par with GMATPrep, but the PR questions themselves felt a little easier than GMATPrep...

Actually, the PR scoring algorithm is pretty close to the real thing, so your scores should be pretty reliable.

I couldn't agree more with this. I took an MGMAT test one weekend and felt quite surprised by the difficulty of the math section. I ended up getting a 45 on quant and felt pretty good about it considering that I felt like I was running out of time on most questions. The next weekend, I took my 2nd GMAT Prep test and felt exactly opposite. All the questions seemed so easy that I thought I was bombing. In fact, I scored a 49 in quant. I would highly recommend working with MGMAT - you'll feel very good about your skills when you're done with it.
