Hi team,

My purpose of contacting you is to ask you how feasible is my profile for the MBA full time course for academic year fall-2013. I have no intentions to ask you any silly questions like 'Do I stand a chance of getting selected/ shortlisted for the MBA full time course for academic year fall-2013?', as I am aware of the fact that these questions are not entertained here. Since I am planning to write my GMAT exam in March-this year and expecting a score of more than 700, so, would this much score make an edge in my B-School application or should I aim for a huge score? Here are some most important elements in my profile:
· Work Experience: 20 months till 31st Jan, 2012 in IBM India Pvt. Ltd. as an Application Developer.
· Promoted to higher band after one year of Work Experience.
· International exposure (Onsite opportunity) of 2 months to Portsmouth, UK.
· Engineering graduate from a top graded Institution (Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi) of India with 69.40%age of total average marks (equivalent to 3.90/4 by WES iGPA calculator).
· Scored 98.99%ile overall (Verbal: 95.43%ile; Quant: 98.86%ile) in CAT (Common Admission Test conducted by group of Indian Institute of Management (IIMs)).
· Got PI calls from 6 IIMs and several other B-Schools in India, Dubai, Singapore on the basis of CAT score.
· Secured AIR (All India Rank) - 4162 among 0.7 millions of candidates appeared for All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE-06) conducted by the group of top graded Engineering Institutions of India.
· Did engineering final year project on 'Variability aware design of circuits and systems' under well recognized professor: Dr. Srikanta Pal (an Indian Scientists who repaired World's Largest Telescope, https://www.theindiapost.com/?p=8706).
· An active volunteer of Dakshina, an NGO (Non-profit organization, funded by IBM India Pvt. Ltd.), where we set up various schools for poor children across several villages.
· Qualified National Mathematics Olympiad (NMO) for second level conducted by Delhi Teachers association, Govt. of India.
· I was a School topper in 10+2 ISc. (Intermediate in Science), consecutively for two years with an aggregate of 81.2%age in final exams.
· Won bunch of prizes in technical as well as in non-technical on school and college level.

Hope I will get a positive reply from your side,
Thanks and Regards,

Hi Saurabh, and thanks for your post. My short answer is that your profile is absolutely feasible for a MBA full time program beginning in 2013. However, I do think that you should absolutely try to score the highest GMAT you can, no matter what! You obviously have strong academics and solid work experience in your past. In front of you, in terms of the admissions process, you can now focus on making sure your GMAT is as strong as possible, that your essays are well written, clear and concise and that they answer questions the adcoms are presenting about your short and long term goals, and how you'll be a good addition to the community in terms of who you are outside of your academics and work experience.

Feel free to contact us at [email protected] for a more detailed assessment of your entire profile.

Best,

Deena

Thanks Deena for such a prompt and positive reply, :)

One more important credential which was not included in my previous post is:

For last few months, I have been working on a registered start-up, based on Mobile app development, founded by one of my friend. My role in our new initiative is to 'analysis market research w.r.t financial point of view' and to 'contact VCs to fund our project' which is going to launch within a month. Also, I have been allotted some responsibility for content writing on our reserved domain where people come to know about our product and can download and install the app into their mobiles. As per our policy, no one, whosoever is a part of out team, can disclose the idea behind the product we are about to launch, but the main concept behind our product based on geo-social networking.

Hope this would help me in increasing my chances of getting my desired B-School. :)

Thanks once again,
