Don't you think sentence E is having the same problem as Sentence C.

"because they last twice as long" sounds awkward to me.

Moreover, i think they refers to Companies rather than leather seats. whats your say?

Makes a comparison with the airlines and not leather seats in other airlines

If you remove "sometimes..others" and read, it gives a better idea:
their- airline companies
they- leather seats.

Also, the money is spent on leather seats so it has to come in the subject rather than in the subordinate clause. That is what I think.
