Sentence Correction

Under the 1986 tax law, interest payments on a refinanced home loan are deductible only if the amount of the loan does not exceed the purchase price of the home, the cost of improvements, and any additional amount borrowed against the home to pay for medical or educational expenses.

(A) any additional amount borrowed against the home to pay for medical or educational expenses
(B) borrowing any additional amount against the home for payment of medical or educational expenses
(C) also borrowing any additional amount against the home to pay for medical or educational expenses
(D) any additional payment of medical or educational expenses that were borrowed against the home
(E) any additional payment borrowed against the home for medical or educational expenses

Shud be A. dnt find anyhtng wrong wth it.
B-violates parallelism
C-also borrwing- paralleism and tense error too
D-changes meaning,amount was borrowed to pay for X, payment was nt borrowed.
E-same wth E.

I will go with A.

B / C Parallelism problems
D changes meaning.
E (not sure but looks like modifier problem <for medical or educational expenses> is ambiguous

but finally A
i think that D has modifier problem with -that were borrowed against the home but not to sure

OA is A.

I was also confused between A and D.

singh181, I doubt on your explanation for option D.
(D) any additional payment of medical or educational expenses that were borrowed against the home (should "that was" because "or" does not make compound subject)

- Here that refers to payment, in this respect, it should be was.
However, it changes the meaning, it is not payment that was borrowed, we borrow amount.
