Hi

I intend to apply for insead MBA programme for Jan intake, and was having difficulty over choice of recommender. My previous supervisor, with whom ihave worked for18 months has agreed to be one of the references. However I have worked for my current company for more than 3 years, and believe my current supervisor will not agree to write my recommendation. In this circumstance i wanted an opinion if my colleague, who was my supervisor during my first year in this organization, will be a good choice as a recommender. If not what would be other good alternatives in place of my current supervisor as a reference, and does insead put a lot of preference on current supervisor as a recommender? Looking forward to your help.

Regards

While most schools do like to see a current supervisor as a recommender, it is certainly not uncommon to have a situation that will not allow it. If you have a former supervisor at your current organization who is willing, that would be a good backup plan. Don't worry so much that it's been a little while--far better to have someone do it who is fully in your corner than to try and wrangle something out of a more recent super or current super who is unwilling or reluctant. hope this helps.
