7. The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory,
a test developed in the 1930s to assess
character, attitudes, and behavior, is finally
being revised, after many attacks recently as
dated and culturally biased.

(A) is finally being revised, after many attacks
recently as dated and culturally biased
(B) has recently been attacked as dated and
culturally biased and is finally being
revised
(C) is finally under revision for receiving much
recent attack as dated and culturally
biased
(D) was finally revised recently because it is
being attacked as dated and culturally
biased
(E) is finally to be revised after recent attacks
as dated and culturally biased.

My query is how should we jude the meaning of the question and choose the right option

Hi I normally don't post the official answer on this forum because then the excitement may die down :D

Indeed B is the correct answer. However, I wanted to ask what is the problem in options C and E, considering the fact that 'being' is always wrong in GMAT land. It is difficult to judge the inherent menaing of the sentence here.

I think recently calls for a present perfect tense to describe what has been going on and we will need present tense to conclude what happened. So B is a contender.

E looks concise but TO BE is wordy and iamcstle doesnt like it so

B>E

There is no "with + noun complement ." stuff

Ok I thought being was right because 'is being revised' is a process which is still going on and hence is a continuous process, so we choose '-ing' form over to be.

Ok my tenses are really messed up but from whatever I know about tenses I think the use of being is fine in this question.

And logitech explained why we need the present perfect tense with 'recently'.

So B wins.

But an even more basic question on this one....almost all of the options feature this ....

"attacked as dated and culturally biased"

is that correct in the first place - shouldn't it be "attacked since/because it is dated and culturally biased" or something like that?

my choice amongst all evils in this SC was 'B' though ....

-A

I just had this question in my Kaplan book... the OA is B. The problem with E is "finally to be." It is being revised, it is not going to be revised. E changes the meaning of the sentence.
