GMAT PrepTest Question

Hi ,

For the question attached ,

The correct answer is option C II only.

I couldn't figure it how .

Suppose I take x = 16 , y = 9

sq root of x can be +4 , -4 . I choose -4
sq root of y can be +3 , -3 . I choose -3.

Now the equation becomes -7/25 which is less than 1/sq root of (x + y )
If I take sq root values as +ve then it becomes greater than 1/sq root of (x + y)

So I am getting two answers .

Is my logic flawed ? Please let me know .

I think you missed the part where it says x and y are +ve

I basically tried multiplying sqrt (x+y) to numerator for each of the given
data.
That makes q data is 1.

And then comparing whether 1 is greater than any of the given data..
