100 Point Increase with TTP, From a 670 to a 770

October 11, 2018

YOU WILL NOT REGRET TTP FOR GMAT QUANT! GET IT NOW IF YOU?RE SERIOUS ABOUT SCORING 700+

Before I started using TTP, my GMAT prep and practice test scores were inconsistent. Based on online reviews of the ?best? materials available, I began studying for the GMAT with Manhattan Strategy Guides, Official Guide Questions, and the Free Official Practice Exams. While the Official GMAT Material is gold, don’t bother wasting your time with Manhattan’s Strategy Guides ? there were not enough practice problems and I did way too much passive learning which lulled me into a false sense of security about how much I knew. On my first Official GMAT test, I scored a 670, falling 40 points below my practice test scores and 60 points below the 730 that I desperately wanted before applying to T10 business schools. A close friend of mine who had achieved a 760 with TTP recommended that I stop everything else and focus on TTP to achieve more consistency in my scores.

As a former engineering major, I had good math intuition, but still had a lot of gaps in knowledge from moving around a lot in middle school and high school. To achieve 49+ on Quant, I really needed a program that solidified my knowledge base through an engaging development of theoretical knowledge and practical application of concepts through MANY DRILLS. My goal for GMAT math was to develop muscle memory so that solving math problems would feel just like riding a bicycle. I felt as though that level of comfort and consistency in solving problems would help reduce any anxiety I felt on test day. TTP provided that and so much more!

COMPLETING TTP REQUIRED TIME AND DEDICATION, BUT IT WAS WORTH IT IN THE END!!!!!

My only regret is that I didn’t start TTP sooner. It is very comprehensive and available at such a reasonable price. Give yourself ~2-3 months to diligently go through all the modules. TTP is not something that you should attempt to fully complete in a month. That being said, there is a short study plan you can follow if you are on a time crunch.

Immediately after signing up for TTP, Scott offered to do a call with me, where we identified my concern areas (work /rate, combinatorics/ probability, and advanced geometry) and mapped out a plan of action. I’m bad at following plans so, initially, I skipped around between the different modules and focused on the hard problems, which quickly proved to be a big mistake. The modules really do build on each other and I needed to work through the easy and medium problems first to identify my knowledge gaps and building a strong foundation. Working from the ground up takes awhile, but it really is the best approach. I complemented TTP with the two additional Official GMAT Exam Packs offered by GMAC.

My favorite parts of the TTP platform:
1. ANALYTICS: Not only does TTP provide a dashboard that displays your accuracy and predicted score range, it also allows you to DRILL into the topic and subtopic areas that you are weak on and directs you to the chapters where you can review the relevant material. This level of detailed analysis was so incredibly helpful in establishing a strong foundation. I would spend a lot of time reviewing the topics that I had below 50% accuracy on and paid attention to these topics when doing OG questions and practice tests. The analytics section is also useful because if you have data-driven insights on what your strong and weak sections are, you KNOW which sections to focus on versus skip over on the actual test. Previously, I was relying on my gut to gauge which questions were difficult or would take me a long time to complete, an approach that was not always accurate.
2. TARGET TEST PREP FORMULA SHEET: Target Test Prep provides a helpful cheat sheet of formulas. I printed out this sheet and as I went through the TTP course and Official Problems, I would jot down additional formulas and tricks that I thought were important, but that I would most likely forget a few days later. I looked over my ?customized? TTP cheat sheet in the days leading up to my exam.
3. ACTIVE REVIEW SHEETS: TTP Provides Active Review Sheets that you can print out and take notes on as you go through the different chapters. I found it extremely helpful to note the different permutations of a specific problem type on these sheets, especially if it was on a topic that was one of my weakness areas e.g., work/rate problems. People emphasize error logs a lot, but I think having clear, brief notes on the different problems you might encounter on test day is also helpful to review in the weeks leading up to the exam. As I reviewed my notes, which also served as a kind of checklist, I was able to reassure myself that I knew enough, had covered all of my gaps, and was ready to take this test!
4. VIDEO LESSONS: Each chapter has video lessons. I would often review videos on my morning commute or when I had down time. Active learning is best, but sometimes it was nice to just watch videos passively to refresh my memory on a particular topic.
5. FLEXIBLE: Because I am a self-directed learner, I found the well-designed platform offered the flexibility I needed to focus on my personalized needs at times that were most convenient to me.

THE BIGGEST BENEFIT TTP PROVIDED WAS CONSISTENCY IN MY QUANT SCORES.
Post TTP, I only scored 49+ on the Quant section of my practice exams and official exam. Before I took my official test, I signed up for Kaplan’s Official Test Day Experience, to get a feel for what it’s like to take a GMAT practice test at the same test center as my actual GMAT. Although I had to use a Kaplan Practice Test rather than an Official Practice Test during this experience, I found it SO HELPFUL to go through the motions of test day a few weeks before the real thing.
On test day, I found myself extremely comfortable with most of the easy and medium questions. There were still some hard quant curveballs that got me towards the end of the test, but overall it went really smoothly, and I was ecstatic when I saw that 770 at the end of the exam! I hope this helps, and remember that persistence and active practice is key on your GMAT journey!

Comprehensive Program Provided Me with Strong Quant Score

July 6, 2018
  • Teacher:
  • Recommended for —Verbal: No  Math: Yes
  • GMAT Scores —Before: 690 (Classic) After: 710 (Classic)
Before starting Target Test Prep (TTP), I spent so much time and energy utilizing various books and online platforms. For my 2nd retake of the test, I decided to prepare with Magoosh and walked out of the exam DEVESTATED. My quant score had plummeted from my 1st test score and I sat there in my car thinking ?how did I get dumber?? As soon as I got home, I signed up for TTP. My friends who were taking the GMAT SWORE by it, so I knew that it was time to give it a try.

I began TTP and was impressed by how thorough the platform was. Because I used so many other platforms, I would always notice when one platform failed to teach a certain concept. That was never the case with TTP.

At one point during my TTP program, I came to a brief halt. I told Jeff that the reason that I hadn’t started the combinations chapter was because I had found combinations to be so challenging in the past and I was scared. He assured me that TTP’s combinations chapter was great so I begrudgingly started the chapter. Jeff was ABSOLUTELY CORRECT! I felt so comfortable with combinations after that chapter, which was amazing because I had been struggling with them for months. TTP did an outstanding job of simplifying topics I had previously struggled with, such as geometry, combinations, probability, and number properties.

Before TTP, I dreaded taking practice exams because my math basics were so shaky. When I took my 1st post TTP practice test, I thought to myself ?this seems too easy. I must be failing?. Nope! I just had a really strong grasp of the material. Post TTP, I only scored 49Q and 50Q on my practice and actual exams and I was so proud of myself.

When my friends who are about to start the GMAT process come to me for advice, I always tell them not to waste their time with other platforms and to start with TTP. My biggest GMAT regret is wasting my time and money on all of these other platforms for 7 months when I should’ve just started with TTP.

Excellent Quant Materials and Tutoring

July 5, 2017
  • Teacher: Jeff Miller
  • Recommended for —Verbal: No  Math: Yes
  • GMAT Scores —Before: 700 (Classic) After: 740 (Classic)
After obtaining a 700 score with self-study and with nothing but waitlists and rejections from elite MBA programs to show for it, I realized I needed to change my approach with respect to GMAT prep. My key improvement area would need to be in the Quantitative section as my 45 score would not be competitive for the programs I was seeking admission to. Based on some reviews of Quantitative materials, I found Target Test Prep fit the bill in terms of the materials (online and mobile friendly) and on cost (Unlimited 6 month access for $399). After about 1-2 months of self study, I engaged Jeff Miller for additional tutoring to help put me over the top. I worked with Jeff for about 3 months meeting 1-2 times a week for 1-2 hours via Skype and WebEx which fit perfectly given heavy travel requirements of my job (consulting). Jeff helped me translate my strong underlying math skills into GMAT success, something which was stymieing me in terms of my ability to secure a high Quant score. My quantitative score improved to a 48 and I was able to get a 740 overall score, which puts me in prime contention for the top programs I am hoping to gain admission to later this year.

I would highly recommend Target Test Prep for GMAT students who are looking to develop GMAT-ready math skills whether math is a strong suit or not. For those who are already strong in math, TTP will help you to better deploy your math skills in the GMAT environment, helping you to see the 'shortcuts' and 'tricks' which can bedevil even seasoned math students especially a few years out of undergraduate. For those who are seeking hands-on instruction, Jeff is an excellent coach, our lessons helped me build the confidence that I could break my streak of two straight 700s and push myself further up the GMAT ladder. Both TTP itself and its tutors are what I would call 'consulting friendly' meaning you can take your GMAT prep on the road.

In sum, would highly recommend Target Test Prep as a tool for success on GMAT Quant!

Nothing better for Quant

I started studying for the GMAT middle of last year when I took a Manhattan GMAT course. Upon completion of the course I felt I knew the material but realized that was not the case when I took the actual exam. Next I utilized Magoosh which improved my quant score a little bit but no where near where I had desired. After Magoosh I tried TTP as a friend swore by it. I completed the chapters and used Jeff for private tutoring once a week. TTP really excels in breaking down each topic thoroughly. After utilizing TTP and Jeff my quant score increased 10 points to a 48. Would definitely recommend this service to anyone struggling with Quant.

Turned My MBA Dreams Into Reality 550-->730

January 14, 2017
  • Teacher: Scott Woodbury-Stewart
  • Recommended for —Verbal: No  Math: Yes
  • GMAT Scores —Before: 550 (Classic) After: 730 (Classic)
I really cannot thank Scott enough for turning my MBA dreams from a distant dream into reality.

My story with TTP starts out with my score of 550. I will forewarn you, I am NOT a good test taker and this is NOT a quick fix post/review (although TTP can surely help you in 2-3 months). I am successful in business, went to a good college, a driven person and willing to do whatever it takes. However, I am not someone who just studied for a little bit and got the score I needed. This post and review is more for people who really have done everything they can and still need a better score. My journey was 2 years from start to finish filled with an emotional roller coaster and lots of money.

Any who, I did not just randomly take the GMAT and get a 550 either. I studied hard, worked with another tutor and took classes at Manhattan Prep. For some people, Manhattan's traditional way of teaching is exactly what you need. Not for me. The classroom set up did not really dig into my weak areas. I knew I needed some help so I decided to get a tutor from Manhattan. The tutor assigned me problem from the Official Guide as well as lessons from the Manhattan Books across both Verbal and Quant. I don't want to go too much in Manhattan because this post is about TTP, but the tutoring did not help. The tutor never checked-in and was always "busy" to meet so it was very hard to find time to work together. He did not take the time to understand my weak areas, and I felt like he sort of gave up on me. Needless to say, I bombed the test and got the 550 (can't remember the exact breakout but let me tell you Quant was reaaaaaaaaaal rough).

One year into my journey, I was devastated but did not want to give up, especially in Quant. I did research here on Beat the GMAT and found TTP. The night I reached out, Scott (the owner) immediately emailed me back and told me he could do tutoring. I took an analysis test on TTP and pretty much bombed it. Scott was very, very honest with me on my road ahead. He told me I needed to study 3-4 hours a night (no joke) and 6 hours on the weekends to get the score above 700+ in three months. I also needed to be extremely dedicated to our sessions (2-3 per week for 2 hours each) and the lessons on TTP. Finally, someone who was honest with me in what I actually needed to do.

For 3 months, our tutoring sessions were grueling. I felt like I needed a nap after. I thoroughly did all of the sessions on the TTP website too (which are amazing by the way). When the time came around to take the test, I felt ready, but extremely nervous because I had already bombed this test. Well, unfortunately, I bombed it again, 590 (again Quant way lower than verbal). I realized that it wasn't just the knowledge. I also struggled hard with anxiety. Scott had prepared me like crazy but my anxiety was getting in the way.

I went into to a real sad hole for a while. Scott was there every step of the way. We decided to give it another try because we thought over preparation would help with anxiety. 3 more months of studying and tutoring. I was ready this time and felt prepared. However, my score came in at 650 (Q46, V33). Definitely not high enough for a top school.

Scott, again, was there for me and worked with me on a next step plan. I knew my story wasn't over (or that I was the most stubborn person in the entire world) and needed to get that 700+ score because I knew I could and that I was smart enough. I worked on my anxiety on the side, and Scott set me up with a verbal tutor he knew. If I was going to break through 700, I needed to get my verbal score up. He actually turned down tutoring me in Quant this time around because he knew that I fully capable of getting a good Quant score. I worked my butt off and did a million practice tests on TTP while studying with the verbal tutor.

My last and final test, I got a 730 (Q49 VX)!!! I will never forget that feeling. I applied for full time shortly after and got into a top 5 business school.

Scott became more than just more tutor. He became my friend and my mentor throughout this entire process. Even though he doesn't tutor me anymore, we still stay in touch. Scott is THE reason I finally got the score I deserved.

If you read this ENTIRE thing here are a few tips:
-If you don't have a ton of money for tutoring, do the TTP regular course. it's a very cheap option for Quant and honestly, it's the best out there. I would know, I have literally tried almost every other option (don't want to list them all out because it's embarrassingly long). I have sent countless people who thank me as soon as they start. It is SO thorough for Quant, intuitive and easy to digest.
-If you are on your 3rd, 4th, 5th time taking the test. DO NOT GIVE UP!! Try something new like TTP. I swear if you put the work in, the outcome will come.
-If you feel like you've done everything you possibly can, look at trying to balance your mental health. Sometimes anxiety is what is holding you back.

Thank you TTP for everything!!!!

A long climb to Quant 50

June 5, 2016
  • Teacher:
  • Recommended for —Verbal: No  Math: Yes
  • GMAT Scores —Before: 520 (Classic) After: 700 (Classic)
When I first started on the GMAT, I was a year out of undergrad. I thought with my strong grades at USC & strong previous standardized test scores that prep would not be long or hard. I was rocked on my first GMAT - Verbal was a 33. My quant was much worse, I was at a 25.

Needless to say, I was pretty depressed. I felt that my knowledge of math needed a major refresh and I felt I had forgot the vast majority of the concepts on the GMAT. I felt like I needed a curriculum that could teach me the math principles I had forgotten.

I had tried Manhattan GMAT & GMAT club to find problems but I was running into the same issues. I could solve the simple problems but introduce a few variables and I struggled. I needed a course that would review specifically my weaknesses. I came across Jeff from Target Test Prep. We began tutoring and he felt that the curriculum at Target Test Prep would be my strongest prep course.

I reviewed every section and I would bookmark the pages I got wrong. Then I would go back re-read them and practice problems that I could have tailor made to that subject. I noticed that my mistakes came from 5 core subjects and that if I could spend extra time on those I would improve my score. So I prepped and went at it again.

This time I was much closer on the gmat - I got a 34 on verbal and 44 on quant. I felt much better this time but I knew I could crack the 700. I just needed to master the math more.

This past time, I studied for 4 hard months. I reviewed every section at least twice. I did every problem I could from the GMAT book and every Target Test Prep problems. I was still nervous about my verbal so I found myself studying Manhattan GMAT's sentence correction over and over. Then came test day.

The math section on the test felt easy - I finished with 6 minutes left in the exam. I was positive - I had flunked it.

Verbal was much harder and I felt pretty decent about it. The trick with verbal is practicing with the time crunch, I felt myself rushing towards the end. I felt if I had budgeted more time for the problems at the end I would have had a score. However, It was time for me to click and get my score.

I was in complete shock. I got a 35 in Verbal - the 77%. But I scored a 50 - 89% on the Quant. I finally got my 700.

It takes a long time to have GMAT mastery and I couldn't thank Target Test Prep enough. It is my belief that with the quant you have to know how to react instantaneously and have the guts to move on from a problem you won't be able to solve in time. It's not an easy path by any means but getting that 700 was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

I know that most prep companies make a lot of promises. I fell for one in a similar company that I choose not to name for English prep. However, if you feel like you need to LEARN math and not just practice problems but actually grasp the concepts like I did: then I highly recommend Target Test Prep.

I can't promise you a Q50. No company can. That comes from putting a ton of hard work and hours towards understanding the concepts and tricks. But, I do feel with the program that you will have the tools you need to get a Quant score that high.

My decision to apply for Fall '16 was very late and therefore my studying was compressed. I spent 2-3 hours per day for two weeks taking the Chapter tests and using the Chapter lessons for instruction on my weak areas. My study approach was far less than ideal, but Jeff and Scott's website is very user friendly and well organized into the key topic areas. With more time, I believe the slightly above average student could take the entirety of this course and achieve a perfect score. Although I never used the tutoring services, these guys are both experts. HIghly recommended after my initial interactions with them.

If you are looking to obtain the highest score possible, the maximum learning plan offered by Target Test Prep is without a doubt the best product on the market. I had taken the GMAT previously using other vendors, but Target Test Prep is the most comprehensive and allows for a self study plan that is extremely organized, with thousands of problems, but more importantly detailed answers to help the learning experience. I have passed the CFA & CAIA and I think that the way in which Target Test Prep prepares students is unparalleled. Furthermore, both Scott and Jeff were extremely hands on and the customer service I received could not have been better.

Do not waste your time looking at various options, just go to the Target Test Prep website and you will understand why it is the best!

BEST GMAT Course Available By Far!

January 18, 2016
  • Teacher: Jeff Miller and Scott Woodbury-Stewart
  • Recommended for —Verbal: No  Math: Yes
  • GMAT Scores —Before: 580 (Classic) After: 710 (Classic)
As previous reviewers have mentioned, Target Test Prep has the best curriculum and tutors for the GMAT exam by far! I took the GMAT exam two years ago after using a mix of Veritas Prep and Manhattan GMAT materials. I also worked with a tutor for 10 hours. I found these materials and the tutor somewhat helpful but I didn’t feel completely prepared or comfortable with the math required for the GMAT.

Ultimately, I decided not to attend business school that year. Two years later, I decided to take the GMAT again. I heard about Target Test Prep because Jeff presented as a guest GMAT tutor in the Forte Foundation’s MBALaunch program. I was so impressed with his presentation that I decided to work on the quantitative section with him. (I’m also currently in graduate school so it took me longer to prepare for the GMAT.) After studying with Jeff for a few months, I felt a million times more comfortable with the quantitative section and the math concepts I needed.

I also worked with Scott Woodbury-Stewart on the verbal section because my verbal score was fluctuating quite a bit. I highly recommend both Jeff and Scott to help with the quant and verbal sections. They are very good at explaining the concepts in different and personalized ways to make them easily understandable to you. It was much more efficient to work with them compared to studying independently. They helped me focus on the areas I needed to improve in the most.

Overall, I took the exam more that once because I got a higher verbal score on one test and a higher quant score on the following test. My higher verbal score was a 42 (96% percentile) and higher quant score was 46 (64% percentile). According to different online score converters, those two raw scores combined are roughly equal to a 710-720. I could not have raised my GMAT score without the Target Test Prep curriculum, Jeff’s quantitative tutoring, and Scott’s verbal tutoring.

Feel free to contact me with any questions about my experience. I was very happy with my experience with Target Test Prep!

TTP was perfect for what I needed to improve my score. I know how hard it is to commit to one platform, however I was in your shoes only a couple of months ago, and I cannot speak highly enough of what TTP provides. The platform offers an easy to follow course structure and covers all content required. It is one of those platforms that has included everything you would need as a student, including well explained content, examples, tests, easy links from the tests to where the content can be researched and more. The analytics on how I was tracking was first class and certainly helps to know the areas I needed to work on. Strangely enough I actually started to enjoy studying and challenging myself on each of the tests that were provided. It’s two thumbs up from me!

Target Test Prep - Invaluable GMAT Prep (640 to 730)

October 26, 2015

  • GMAT Scores —Before: 640 (Classic) After: 730 (Classic)
Target Test Prep was truly invaluable in my prep for the GMAT. Before coming to Target Test Prep I felt like I had tried almost everything - Manhattan GMAT, Manhattan Review, Veritas, Varsity Tutors, Magoosh. I officially had the GMAT blues and was feeling a bit hopeless. Through Target Test Prep, though, I was able to raise my score from a 640 to a 730, a score I am incredibly proud.

After chatting with Jeff Miller at TTP for the first time, I immediately felt more hopeful and confident that I could master the GMAT. He explained that many people complete courses from other GMAT prep companies and still find themselves in the same situation I was in - I needed more thorough prep catered to my individual needs. The curriculum at TTP, written by Scott Woodbury Stewart, is the best GMAT quant prep resource I’ve found to exist (and I tried a lot of them). It is incredibly thorough and comprehensive. Jeff was also such an amazing teacher and cheerleader - he gave me more pep talks than I thought it was possible for one to give. I cannot thank him and Target Test Prep enough.

Math and GMAT Tutoring Led Me To 100 Point Improvement

October 23, 2015
  • Teacher: Scott Woodbury Stewart, Jeff Miller
  • Recommended for —Verbal: No  Math: Yes
  • GMAT Scores —Before: 570 (Classic) After: 670 (Classic)
Target Test Prep (TTP) has helped me improve where other companies failed to do so. I have tried other test prep curriculums and teachers and none come close to what TTP can do to help improve one's GMAT math skills. I went from scoring in the 32nd percentile to scoring in the 64th percentile in math.

First, the curriculum is unbeatable and I mean that. Being able to set a target and let Scott Stewart's curriculum cater to my needs was fantastic. I was able to really push myself with the in-depth coverage of math topics coupled with excellent questions for each topic. Each chapter or topic not only had great explanations for the math concepts, but TTP also provided excellent testing tips embedded within each chapter. There are so many different useful features within the TTP curriculum. Among many of my favorites, I particularly enjoyed being able to create math practice tests with customized topic selections with selections for respective difficulty levels, customized time spent per question, and a customized number of questions per practice test. As someone who does well to practice multiple problems, TTP's curriculum provided me with what I needed there. The curriculum is just amazing.

Along with the curriculum, I recommend Jeff Miller as a tutor. The price per session was well below other competitors but the tutoring was worth more than what I was paying. Jeff is not only competent in what he teaches regarding math topics, but he is also relatable in one's pursuit for a good GMAT score. He understands the struggles we all go through to improve our scores. As such, he is able to provide meaningful and useful tips that go beyond just the mathematical concepts. He is a mentor as well as a tutor, which combination is imperative for anyone wishing to really master the GMAT. Jeff came prepared and was able to cater to my needs for each session. His knowledge of the GMAT as a whole was helpful in carving my own path to obtaining the score I want. My target score was an ambitious 730. With the skills Jeff has taught me, I know I am well-equipped to take the 100 point improvement I achieved over the course of our working together and tack on an at least an extra 30 points to put me in the 700 range. I now know what I need to do in order to make that happen and TTP was instrumental in obtaining that knowledge.

TTP's curriculum (developed by Scott Woodbury Stewart) was definitely the key to my GMAT success- allowing me to bring my score up from a 610 to a 680 in less than 4 weeks. I had taken the GMAT twice before TTP- once in Feb 2015 and and again in July 2015. While my score improved from the low 500s to the low 600s after investing a lot of time and money in other test prep resources and courses from other providers, I was still no where near my target score after my retake in July. As I began planning my retake strategy (exam set for October), I was filled with frustration, doubt, and even more confusion- primarily because I did not have enough time to start from square one and I did not know where I needed to begin. I mulled over various books, set-up time in my schedule every night for practice problems, and searched endlessly for online "action-plans." However, I felt like I was starting over and spending a lot of time reviewing principles that I had already mastered. The TTP online curriculum allowed me to easily identify my weak subject areas, which enabled me to optimize my time with Jeff Miller (tutor), rather than wasting time (and money) reviewing concepts I already felt comfortable with. I began the Fast Track curriculum 09/12/15, completing practice quizzes each night, only reading the in-depth chapter explanations if my quiz score did not meet 90% or above. Given my busy work schedule during the day, I did not have much time or energy for exhaustive hours of studying each night. However, the TTP chapters quizzes are short enough for me to complete ~2 per night without feeling as though studying would be a 2-3 hour burden. Once I scored within a specific percentile, I moved on, and in the last week when my test date neared, I was able to skip around each chapter to the concepts I remembered struggling with during my second retake. My tutor, Jeff, was also a core component in my success and, I think, the success of the TTP curriculum. As I mentioned, I invested thousands of dollars in other test prep courses prior to beginning TTP. However, Jeff was able to break down the material and show me short-cuts that were never addressed in other test prep courses. In addition, Jeff was also able to help me identify my most common mistakes (assumptions, math errors, guessing too soon, over-thinking, etc...) that helped me shorten my time, approach questions differently, and improve my overall confidence when attacking the exam. While I am content with my score (still debating one last retake), I will say that I was not expecting the 70 point increase after working with Jeff. Like most people, I work full time, and fall is a busy season for me, packed with travel and planning projects for the following year. So while I did have 4 weeks to prepare for my retake in October, I did not have much time to dedicate to TTP. Because of my schedule, I could only work with Jeff at 530/6am, and only had time for a few practice problems each night. Thus, by the last week before my test date, I had only completed ~40% of the online TTP curriculum. Jeff and I spent my last weekend going through concepts I did not have time to complete on my own via the online study plan. Even then, I did not think I put in as much as I needed to in order to meet my target score. However on test day, the exam felt easy. I used all the short-cuts Jeff showed me in almost every question. I was pleasantly surprised with my improvement over less than 4 weeks. My advice- try it. TTP works. It's simple, straight forward, and the tutoring approach is targeted - exactly what I needed in order to beat the GMAT in a very short period of time. If my work schedule/travel would have afforded me more time in those 4 weeks to work with Jeff and use all the TTP resources, I'm confident I could have score much higher. Do it. Commit to it. Forget about sleep- you'll sleep much better when it's all over.

Detailed Quant Preparation to Improve Your Individual Weakness's

The program helped shore up all my weakness areas on the GMAT and help my quant score improve by 14+ points. I had tried other programs but I felt that they provided a superficial glance at the topics without improving my specific weakness areas.

Target Test Prep allowed me to focus on the topics I was weakest on and learn the material in an easy and effective way that translated well on the exam. I would highly recommend their services.

Gret Experience Working One-on-One in addition to a Great online platform

Jeff and Scott are both great teachers who really know their stuff and have put together a very straight forward yet comprehensive online platform that really enhances your ability to drill on specific subjects.

Before working with Target Test Prep I had taken an in-person course with Manhattan Prep where I had a good teacher in my class but felt that I needed more one-on-one assistance. The private sessions with the instructor Manhattan had set me up with were awful as the person just repeated the same basic tactics I had learned in class instead of working with me to learn my strengths.

Working with Jeff was a 180 from my experience with the Manhattan tutor. Jeff really paid attention to how I worked through problems and would deviate from the tactics they teach when he felt I would benefit from it. It was also clear that Jeff had a great understanding of what its like to take the exam and the type of questions that will actually appear on the exam because he is has taken it numerous times just keep up to date on what GMAC is doing.

I also can't say enough about the studying platform that Jeff and Scott have put together. One of my biggest pet peeves with using Manhattan's online platform was that you couldn't construct short practice sets online across various subjects to simulate working through questions on the actual exam.

If you are looking for a way to hone in on your quant skills and work through problem sets you won't be able to find elsewhere I highly recommend starting up a Target Test Prep subscription and working with Jeff and Scott one-on-one.

I enrolled in Target Test Prep prior to taking the GMAT, so I wasn't sure how in-depth the quantitative questions would get. After a practice test and an introductory call with Jeff, I was soon on my way to learning the materials. The look and feel of the program is great, easy to navigate. Each chapter's material was well presented at a good pace, questions were progressively difficult, and included both a text and video solution for each question. This was helpful if I needed to understand the thought process behind a solution.

I also appreciated the ability to take tests based on Easy, Medium, or Hard. This helped me gauge how well I was understanding the material.

I would recommend Target Test Prep to anyone who is studying for the GMAT.

In July 2015, I enrolled in the Target Test Prep GMAT Quant course. This course allowed me to really understand GMAT Quant like I never had before. Furthermore, I was astonished to see my quant score rise from an 18 to 36 in practice GMAT exams after completing just a few chapters in the Target Test Prep Quant course.

I also have been incredibly happy with my interactions Scott Woodbury Stewart and Jeffrey Miller. They have always been available to answer all my questions, and I have really benefited from their positive and caring attitude! Although I am not tutoring with Scott or Jeff, I love the fact that I can reach out to them with a question, and I always get an immediate response.

At the moment, I am still preparing for the GMAT and studying with Target Test Prep Quant course. Although I do have some more time before my actual GMAT, I believe that with the support and professionalism of the Target Test Prep’s team, I will be able to achieve my GMAT goal!

I recommend the Target Test Prep Quant course to anyone preparing for the GMAT. Target Test Prep will help you to quickly and effectively prepare for your exam!

Target Test Prep is a great resource for in-depth quant practice

September 19, 2015

  • GMAT Scores —Before: 480 (Classic) After: 730 (Classic)
Target Test Prep was a great resource for practicing each of the difficulty levels (easy, medium, hard) for each of the quant topics ( number properties, probability, etc.). For example, I was terrible with probability questions of the higher caliber (those that blend combinatorics with probability) and was able to use Target Test's vast library of difficult questions to really "get the flow down" of these question types.

The explanations that Jeff and his team have are a great resource for tracing your way through a problem and pinpointing your mistakes...they didn't have the video resources when I first signed up but once they added the videos, it made the learning process much more concrete and understandable.

Ultimately, I went from a 480 with a quant score of 20 or something horrendous to a 730 with a quant score of 47. Target Test is a great resource but as with all studying, you will get out what you put in! Work hard and crush it!

Extensive Quant Program with Proven Results

After struggling a bit with my GMAT preparation, I stumbled upon TTP and it was a a terrific find. Unlike Manhattan or other GMAT programs in which you simply learn the 'tricks' to solving some quant problems, TTP actually instructs you on HOW to complete these problems, providing an appropriate level of rationale and methodology, and then offers some of the tips/tricks to attack these problems. In other words, a true quant foundation is formed vs. simply offering up the tricks.

There is a substantial database of material in the form of practice problems and quizzes. Jeff was incredibly responsive and always available to answer questions.

I would recommend this course to anyone, especially if you've thought that you have fully exhausted your prep search.

Lacking a traditional business background and proven quantitative experience in a professional setting, it was very important for me to have a strong quant score on the GMAT to show the schools I was applying to that I could handle the more quantitative curriculum. Target Test Prep was the perfect way to focus my studies on where I really needed help. My quant score jumped up 20 percentile points in 7 weeks with the help of Target Test Prep. After preparing for the GMAT with Target Test Prep, I was able to score a 720. The help that I got from TTP was critical in my GMAT success. At the time, I was living and working in Rwanda, and this made me worried that I would be at a disadvantage as I prepared, but after finding TTP I was able to construct a solid study plan. Thank you TTP for being so accommodating with the time difference and poor internet, and keeping me sane and focused throughout the process!

I met Jeff after trying several methods and programs to improve my quant score. I do not use math in my daily life and it had been a while since I last studied it. The TTP curriculum really made a difference in my understanding on what each question is asking, and gave me the tools I needed to approach each question with confidence. TTP is not about tricks and shortcuts on how to go around the GMAT, but it teaches you in a clear way everything you need to know math related to succeed on the test. Jeff was my tutor. I met very few people so passionate about their job to the point of truly caring for my improvements and results. I always got quick responses to any questions I had, he kept me motivated and pushed me when things got harder and overall helped me with strategies and anything GMAT related. I wouldn’t have improved 40% on my quant without him.

After having taken the Manhattan GMAT course, I was only able to increase my quantitative score by 3 points (10%). Working with Target Test Prep's private tutoring services allowed me to get customized help in my weak areas. My tutor was knowledgeable about the GMAT, very professional, and extremely flexible. When I was studying for the test, work was very hectic. He was able to adjust and meet with me around my schedule. The GMAT prep we did was customized, so we did not waste time and focused on areas that were my weak points. He was able to provide me with tips on how to handle problems I often struggled with. The program helped me increase my quantitative score by 6 points (20%)! I tried a variety of books before joining Target Test Prep. Target Test Prep's self-study course does a great job of simplifying complex topics and breaking things down into easy to understand concepts. The material is very comprehensive, and highlights tips on how to handle difficult questions. Although there is a lot of material to digest for the GMAT, the course does a great job of providing the skills necessary to master tough questions.

Focusing on raising my quant score, I chose TTP based on their rigorous, comprehensive, and detailed curriculum to truly learn how to approach and solve the problems with confidence instead of attempting to 'game the test', as other programs teach. The majority of my instruction was web based 1:1 sessions with Jeff Miller who designed each session based on how I progressed through various topics and also coached me on my approach to studying for the GMAT overall. Most importantly for me, the tutoring was flexible, allowing me to book sessions before/ after work hours. I supplemented the 1:1 sessions with TTP's online learning and detailed, straight forward problem explanation guides. Overall, TTP is an extremely strong quant program with top quality instructors.

Best decision I've made for my academic career

I was down to my last chance to take the GMAT. If I didn't meet the school's required score, my assistantship would be lost. That's when I found Target Test Prep. This proved to be one of the smarter decisions that I've made in my academic career. I worked with the Target Test Prep course and my tutor for about two months, meeting with him twice a week for two hours a session. He started with the basics and his teaching style really seemed to fit my learning style. He taught me how to diagnose certain problem types and how to quickly determine the right answer choice. My tutor was not only extremely helpful during our lessons, but was also very accessible outside of them whenever I had questions or concerns. In between lessons I focused on drilling specific quant topics in the Target Test Prep curriculum and this allowed me to really understand each topic I covered with my tutor.
Without the help of Target Test Prep, I would have been stuck and would not have achieved my GMAT goal. Prior to working with Target Test Prep, my best score on the quantitative section of the GMAT was the 23rd percentile, but after working with Target Test Prep for the two months, my quant percentile skyrocketed to a surprising 68th percentile. This score alone almost proved to be enough to reach the required score for admission to my desired school. I would HIGHLY recommend Target Test Prep to anyone who is thinking about taking the GMAT or any other standardized test.

He also gave me various resources to help explain concepts I could not understand. My math percentile went from 54% to 70% after taking this prep program. Seriously, I have taken EVERY GMAT prep program you can think of and this was the ONLY one I saw substantial results. If I had to do it all over again I would have started here and saved myself so much time and frustration.

Target Test Prep helped me crack 700

August 20, 2015
  • Teacher: Jeffrey Miller
  • Recommended for —Verbal: No  Math: Yes
  • GMAT Scores —Before: N/A After: 710 (Classic)
I started studying for the GMAT by purchasing the Manhattan GMAT self-study program. I took the initial diagnostic, scoring a 520 with a 20th percentile in math.... I knew I was in for a climb. After going through each Manhattan GMAT study guide twice and taking 3 diagnostics, I topped out at a 640. Scoring was as follows: 520, 640, 620. Scoring a 620 on that third practice test really was a wake up call, as it made me realize that my "study harder" mentality clearly was not getting me close to the 700-range (my goal). I needed something new, and that's when I finally bit the bullet and ponied up for a personal tutor.

To all you people out there like me on a budget -- remember this entire process of getting your MBA is an investment. You are going to end up spending tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars on a program, so don't get cheap when it comes to qualifying yourself for a program you are actually excited about. This is not the time in your life to get cheap.

That's when Jeff Miller at Target Test Prep came in. After an initial phone call, Jeff offered a free 1.5 hour session to test his tutoring format (which you should take him up on). I was surprised to learn that he is based in NY (I'm LA-based), but that this would not be an issue as everything would be web/skype-based. I will admit I was skeptical at first, but I gave it a shot. What Jeff taught me was, in short, THE difference-maker.

His focus on understanding mechanics, mastering the mid-level difficulty problems, focus on Number properties, and overall ease to work with made all of our sessions a joy. He knows this test inside and out, and most importantly, tests you on problems very similar to those you will ACTUALLY SEE on the test.

In addition, I felt that Target Test Prep's quant course was the best I had seen in all of my GMAT studying, both in its explanation of concepts and quality of practice problems. TTP also gives you access to a database of over 2,500 practice questions, where you can take timed practice tests of selected topics. Again, the questions they have on there are very similar to what you'll see on the real test. All in all I was able to score a 710 with a 49 in the quant, and I can’t thank Jeff and Target Test Prep enough for my success. For those looking for a higher score on the GMAT, I definitely recommend Target Test Prep!!

Jeff was great tutor who maximized the time we spent together by identifying the lowest hanging fruit in terms of improvement. His method was to watch me solve real GMAT quant problems and then show me more efficient ways to get to the correct answer. The GMAT is all about time management, so shaving a few seconds here and there can make a huge difference. I would definitely recommend Target Test's highly personalized approach. Even high scorers will learn a new trick or two.

Great Website

GMAT round 1. I took my first GMAT in early April, 2015. Leading up to it, I worked extensively in the Princeton Review book with the vast majority of my time being spent on practice problems. I weighted my verbal/quant practice at about a 40/60 split respectively, noting that my math skills needed much more help than my verbal/writing. I think I spent about an hour a day for a month in total preparing for my first GMAT - obviously not the most in-depth preparation...and the score reflected that.

Round 1 scores: 39 Verbal, 42 Quant, 5 Writing, 7 Reasoning with a 660 final score.

GMAT round 2. Not being satisfied with my 660, I vowed to redo the GMAT. Noting that my verbal score put me almost in the 90th percentile, I committed my time exclusively to the Quant section. I wanted a better study method and came across Target Test Prep. I was impressed right away with the ease of use of the website and the way that the material was structured. I also liked the instructional videos. Books are great but, at least for a person like me, it is often helpful to see the pen-strokes and have the logic conversationally broken down. I spent 10 weeks intensively using the website, working through the taught material for my worst subjects and conducting 30-50 practice questions per day. Overall, I probably spent 75 hours on the site between June and August.

The big breakthrough came for me when I started doing custom tests. Its easy to go through a chapter and then do the practice questions immediately afterwards because you are mentally primed to jump those mental hurdles. I think its actually a disservice to you to go about it that way. I recommend a 50/50 split in your time if you use TTP. Spend half your time working through your weakest chapters and learning/understanding the concepts. Spend the other half doing custom tests with a variety of questions so that you're having to shift the mental gears that you'll have to shift on test day - practice like you'll perform.

As I stated earlier, I exclusively committed my re-study time to the quant section using TTP. I retook the GMAT in mid August and came out with the following scores:

42 Verbal, 48 Quant, 4.5 Writing, 6 Reasoning with a 740 final score.

I would recommend Target Test Prep to any prospect GMAT taker - 5 out of 5 stars, I was blown away by the results.

I highly recommend Target Test Prep for GMAT tutoring. I came to TTP with a 650 GMAT and finished with a 740 GMAT!! My quant score alone jumped from the 50th percentile to the 85th percentile, all thanks to the GMAT prep I did with TTP! My tutor knew the GMAT inside and out and was able to teach those skills to me. Also, he was very flexible and accommodated himself to my changing work schedule. I worked with TTP for 25 hours over six weeks. In that time, we covered all the GMAT math subjects and had time to return to subjects that I struggled with during review. We went at my pace and focused on the issues I was weak in. TTP has a fool-proof method for covering every subject and all the tricky question types that the GMAT can throw at you. Thanks to TTP, I now have a GMAT score I am proud to submit to any business school.

After working with Target Test Prep, I was able to score a 710 on the GMAT. TTP's innovative one-on-one web-based tutoring and online curriculum is by far the best way to prepare for the GMAT. I was able to meet with TTP tutors more often and focus more on the GMAT material. Unlike other tutors, who treat you like you're just a face in the crowd, my tutor really cared about my progress and kept my confidence up, even when I doubted my abilities. My tutor was extremely flexible and adapted the material to my unique strengths and weaknesses. We were able to efficiently hone in on the high-value GMAT material I needed to master. In between sessions I spent countless hours studying with the Target Test Prep GMAT quant course. This course allowed me to work on concepts I was not able to learn with my tutor and kept me on track to becoming a GMAT machine. Unlike other major test prep resources, it’s clear that TTP really spent the time and energy to create an amazing product.

All of my studying and hard work with TTP really paid off! I would recommend Target Test Prep to anyone who is preparing for the GMAT.

I had a great experience preparing for the GMAT with Target Test Prep. Their GMAT curriculum is first-class and my tutor was awesome. The structured lessons and test questions allowed me to pinpoint my weak points and focus on specific GMAT quant subjects in addition to refreshing other math topics in which I was weak. I was a bit hesitant at first about the one-on-one online private tutoring because my tutor and I were in different states, but the online lessons were awesome. The WebEx meetings were ultra-flexible and allowed me to fit them in around my busy schedule. I felt that my tutor was sitting in the room with me. I highly recommend Target Test Prep to anyone preparing for the GMAT; you will not be disappointed!

Highly recommend - enabled me to identify my weak content areas and drill them like crazy (with timed, progressively difficult problem sets) until I had them mastered.

Best way to relearn the GMAT math you forgot from high school

I should have been so lucky to have been taught math the first time in high school with as much clarity as Target Test Prep did for my GMAT. In my preparation for the test, I spent approximately 15 hours working with my wonderful Target Test Prep tutor, in addition to reading every chapter of the online material and doing nearly every practice problem.

The online Target Test Prep website clearly explained algebra/geometry/probability concepts in a way that eschewed teaching the reasoning behind how/why approaches work, instead rightfully focusing on the quickest way to solve a problem. This is a key differentiator than Target-s larger competitors and high school math teachers. (After all, when in business school would one ever really need to know *why* some triangles have similar angles to others?) Moreover, the humorous example and practice problems - usually involving pirates, karate, and/or dairy products - added some levity to the otherwise tedious process of studying for the GMAT math portion. Target was also kind enough to grant me access to their new slick mobile-friendly platform which was in beta at the time, allowing me to rip through practice sets on my iPad while on the train to work.
Most important to my success though was the time I spent with my tutor Jeff. Though we met remotely via Skype and GoToMeeting, the interactive whiteboard made it as easy as if he were sitting next to me. I really appreciated Jeff respected my time and money by quickly figuring out what subjects I most needed work on, and then focusing our tutoring time on those. What I most appreciated, however, is that Jeff never made me feel like an idiot when I didn-t understand something the first time he explained it or made a careless arithmetic error. Unlike when I studied for the LSAT with one of Target-s competitors several years ago, Jeff always respected my intelligence and encouraged me to solved problems in a different way than prescribed by the course material if it made more sense to me that way. Getting the problem right quickly was always more important than doing it the -Target way-.

Overall, I could not be happier with my Target Test Prep experience. Jeff and Target took me from the 660 I got on my first practice test to the 710 I ultimately scored on the real thing - high enough to be admitted to Oxford Business School! As such, it is no understatement to say that without Jeffrey Miller and Target Test Prep, I would not be about to fulfill my long-held dream of earning my MBA at one of the best programs on the planet.

I was recommended Scott as a tutor by my friend that used him previously to prep for the GMAT. Initially, I did not listen and took a standardized course from one of the well known test prep companies. That resulted in a lot of wasted time and money. By the time I got to Scott, I had a limited amount of time to get my score where I needed it. Luckily he had the right resources and could clearly identify my personal missteps to give me quick feedback on how I can fix my common mistakes. In just a short period of time I raised my score by over 100 points just by working with Scott! I've recommended him to well over 10 of my friends and now we're going to the top business schools in the country. If you are serious about being a part of the Class of 2018, skip the standardized courses and work with the best resources and tutoring that is catered to you. It will save you a lot of time and money.

The Target Test Prep materials are much more comprehensive and helpful than the Kaplan book I had originally bought. The team is dedicated to helping you succeed, and will build a study plan around your schedule and skill level. They see you through the entire process, and go out of their way to make themselves available for questions, extra sessions, etc. In addition, the website and interface of the materials is super accessible and makes it easy to hone in on problem areas.

Would recommend them to anyone!

Cant say enough about this company. They honestly care about you getting your score and have done a ton of prep work to make sure that that happens. They worked with me nights, weekends and holidays to finally get my score. I had very little quant background when I started and they really helped me compensate for that. Target was the third test prep company I signed with while applying to Bschool and I wish I had found them sooner, would have saved me a lot of time, money and aggravation!

Target is great, I recommend them to anyone who wants to pursue an MBA or is an undergrad looking to get a GMAT score in their back pocket.

Scott Woodbury-Stewart and Target Test Prep made my GMAT study experience enjoyable and helped me improve my official GMAT score from a 580 to a 730. I call Scott my ? GMAT therapist? because he helped me to master not only the content of the exam, but also to overcome my test anxiety and build my confidence, which had been lacking. When I came to TTP, I only had 6 weeks to prepare for the GMAT and in my first session with Scott, I got a reality check on the time and commitment it would take to improve my score. We started working together 2-3 times a week and I completed the Target Test Prep GMAT Quant Course course on my own. Scott is one of the best teachers I've had in my life and made sure I got the most out of each session. There is no way I could have achieved a 730 without his help, and I am so grateful for his support through the process. I submitted my applications in January of this year and received interview invites from top ten business schools - this would not have been possible without Scott and Target Test Prep!!

TTP has a great product that thoroughly tests the intracacies of all concepts tested on the quant portion of the exam. Moreover, TTP staff spent time with on calls and through strategy webinars to help me tackle targeted areas of weakness. The course was a strong quant supplement to another course that I used for verbal prep.

I reached out to Target Test Prep after taking the GMAT once, scoring in the 11th percentile. While working two jobs, it had become very hard to find the time and motivation to prepare for the exam. I decided to find a tutor to help me stay focused and force me to study because it was obvious that I was unable to do these things by myself. We then decided to meet for tutoring, via webinar, once or twice a week at my convenience. Jeff Miler provided an amazing online GMAT math curriculum that Target Test Prep had created. The website broke down the Quantitative section of the GMAT into chapters and also provided various chapter tests and custom tests. The website's easy access for my iPad and iPhone made it even more convenient for me to study anytime, anywhere. With this material at my finger tips and my tutor’s expert tutoring, I could tell the outcome would be a success. The people at Target Test Prep have a genuine interest in helping others get their target score. Jeff’s positive attitude and outlook helped me believe in myself and my overall confidence with the GMAT. As a result, I was able to accomplish my goal and increase my score by 150 points. I would recommend Target Test Prep to any student who is studying for the GMAT!

Let me start by saying that I have tried other GMAT prep materials, and I can definitely say that they can’t compete with those from TTP. Here’s my story: After several weeks of struggling with the quantitative section of the GMAT, a friend of mine strongly recommended that I use Target Test Prep. What a great decision! As soon as I began working with TTP, my dismal progress turned around, and I was able to make great progress. In the TTP GMAT quant course, all the topics are very well detailed, and the huge amount of realistic exercises helped me to quickly establish the correct mindset necessary to solve GMAT questions efficiently
I not only improved my GMAT Quant skills, including learning rules and tricks extremely useful to earning a high score, but I also developed the confidence, time-management, and stamina necessary to face the GMAT. Eventually I was able to increase from a 40 to 49 in the Quant section and this was entirely due to my preparation with TTP. I highly recommend them.

I gave myself five weeks to prepare for and retake my GMAT so I could apply to my target schools during Round 2 of 2015. I knew that I had to quickly determine my weaknesses and then focus on said weaknesses over a short time span and make quick gains. After exploring a few options, I found TTP and signed-up for a trial membership. Jeff and his team were very responsive in providing guidance about how to best use TTP during my 5 week sprint, and his pointed suggestions helped me map out a study plan. Once I put this plan in motion using TTP, I used the quiz / test generator tool to discover my weaknesses and then learn the most relevant material in order to fill these gaps.

Thanks to TTP, I raised my raw quant score by 2 points in 5 weeks. I would highly recommend TTP if you are looking for targeted helped on Quant!

Target Test Prep is the Best for Quant Improvement!

July 8, 2015
  • Teacher: Jeff Miller
  • Recommended for —Verbal: No  Math: Yes
  • GMAT Scores —Before: N/A After: 740 (Classic)
After working with Target Test Prep, I scored a 740 (Q47, V45) on the GMAT. Prior to working with TTP, I scored a 640 on my initial diagnostic GMAT Prep test. From the 36 that I received on the quant section of this practice test, I knew I had to focus my efforts on raising my quant score. To give you some context, I studied languages in college and am a Spanish teacher, so the verbal section was my strength. However, I haven't taken a math course since my senior year of high school (which was 8 years ago), so I really needed to review the content covered on the quant section. I started studying in February with the Manhattan GMAT strategy guides. About a month into studying, I concluded that while I was making some progress using these guides, I wasn't learning the content as well as I needed to for the quant section. I needed material that covered each topic more in-depth and had more practice problems for me to try. I got in touch with Target Test Prep through the Forte Foundation. I got the $1 trial of the TTP GMAT Quant Course and found that it covered each topic in great detail, had tons of useful practice problems, and was easy to follow. I could also frequently check my progress on the content by creating tests with easy, medium, and/or hard questions for particular chapters. I worked with Jeff one hour per week during the 2 months prior to the test. He was great at pinpointing the underlying skills that are needed for success on the quant section as well as offering really helpful strategies to increase efficiency on the test. As I talked through my approach to problems with him, he was able to identify where I was going wrong and help me shift my thinking to solve the problem in a more logical and systematic way that could be applied to similar problems. Each week I would try to cover as much content as possible on my own using the Target Test Prep GMAT Quant Course. I completed almost all of the example problems in each chapter to make sure I was taking a thorough approach to covering the content. Then, I would check in with Jeff about my progress during our weekly tutoring session and he would cover content that I felt like I needed more help on. In particular, his approach to number properties helped me immensely on the actual GMAT quant section because a good chunk of the quant section is based on a strong understanding of number properties. Overall, the shift in my studying approach helped me to study smarter. I think the key to my score increase was studying the content covered on the quant section in depth, and the detail and structure of the Target Test Prep GMAT Quant Course helped me to do that immensely. Getting useful tips from Jeff every week also helped give me more tools in my toolbox to get through each problem under the time constraints of the GMAT. I strongly recommend the curriculum and instruction that Target Test Prep has to offer. It stands out because of its detailed and personalized approach that maximizes learning. Good luck!

The program helped me to increase my quantitative score by over 50% in less than one month. My overall score improved from a 530 to a 630 in three weeks! With more time, the results would have been even greater. I highly recommend Jeff, Scott, and Target Test Prep for anyone looking for quantitative GMAT help.

After reading great reviews about Scott and Target Test Prep on ?Beat the GMAT,? I decided to give him a try. I engaged Scott for private GMAT tutoring and purchased the TTP GMAT Quant Course. These turned out to be the two smartest decisions I made while studying for the GMAT. With Scott’s help, I scored a 720 on the GMAT.

By the time I found Scott, I had already been let down by Manhattan GMAT and by the results I got after going through its GMAT program. Even after working diligently, my quant skills were lacking, and I was in desperate need of help.

Thankfully Scott was able to help. The clarity and insight that Scott provided me were invaluable. He made the GMAT come to life. Scott’s an excellent teacher, and he knows the GMAT cold. Working with him was a great experience. After each lesson with Scott, I knew so much more than I had known before, I had so many more efficient strategies, and I was so much better equipped to handle GMAT math and IR problems.

In addition to the excellent private tutoring that I received from Scott, I greatly benefited from the TTP materials, which were spot on. I found that the TTP GMAT math course was presented in a pedagogically effective manner; each lesson module was clear, comprehensive, and in-depth. It’s coverage of GMAT math is unmatched. The TTP materials blew the Manhattan GMAT materials away. The TTP course helped me to solve problems that other prep courses seem to ignore.

I don't believe I would have scored as well as I did if it hadn't been for how Scott and TTP strengthened my quant skills and helped me to understand how to conquer the test.

If you’ve tried the big companies and have been let down, don’t give up. Instead, give Scott and TTP a try. I wish I had found him sooner and I highly recommend him!!

Outstanding Results, Thoughtful Coaches, and Better Than the Big Names in the Market

After 3 months of rigorous GMAT study with Target Test Prep, I was ecstatic when I saw 730 pop up on the test screen after completing my GMAT. I self-studied with the TTP GMAT Quant Course and supplemented my self-study with private tutoring from Scott Woodbury-Stewart. I can’t say enough good things about the course and the private tutoring.

Prior to working with Target Test Prep, I spent a lot of money working with a big name tutor/company, and I was not happy with the results I got. I hung on to this tutor for too long. I should have cut the cord sooner, but I did not know with whom to work. After all, this company was supposed to be the best. It was then that some of the former admissions directors turned consultants from Fortuna Admissions recommend Target Test Prep. I took their advice and started working with Scott. Scott is a teacher, not just a tutor, and he really cared about my level of understanding behind the concepts, not just my ability to do a problem successfully from time to time. If anyone needs expert GMAT help, I completely recommend him. He helped me to build a lot of sophisticated skills that, to be honest, I did not know I was missing or needed. I learned to break down complex GMAT problems into smaller, simple structures that I was able to precisely analyze and quickly attack. Working with Scott and TTP was the turning point in my GMAT prep. I highly recommend Target Test Prep - they do outstanding work.

By the time I decided to go back to grad school, I only had 1 month before the application was due for the coming Fall term. Before this, I never took the GMAT exam nor had I studied for it. I quickly ran to the closest book store and grabbed the self-teaching GMAT guides to start my journey. After one week of looking through material I have not seen for the last 10 years, I knew I was going to need some help studying for this exam in only one month. After visiting a few local tutoring businesses and searching online, I finally came across Target Test Prep. At first I was questioning the online format instead of a live tutor, however I could not have asked for anything better! After learning more about the services I quickly contacted Target Test Prep and was set up with a tutor. My tutor presented the information in a manner that was clear, concise, and completely tailored to what I needed in that 4 week time frame. He provided me with the exact structure and expertise I was looking for in a GMAT tutor. I also used the Target Test Prep self-study course and I can honestly say it was better than any of the other competitors. The clarity and detail in the writing as well as the user friendly interface allowed me to efficiently study in between tutoring sessions. After only 4 weeks of work with Target Test Prep, I was able to not only blow past my goal score but to also exceed the admissions average set by my University. I could not have asked for anything more from Target Test Prep. For anyone who is taking the GMAT, I would highly recommend using this service!

"I started to study for the GMAT on my own and then by taking a Manhattan GMAT course. After I didn’t receive the GMAT scores that I was looking for, I began searching for a better option. My friend told me about Scott and Target Test Prep. I self-studied with the TTP GMAT Quant Course. This course was a godsend, and I wish I had known about it from day one. The course is brilliantly designed and can help even the most math-challenged of students beat the pants off the GMAT. There are thousands of practice questions with super-clear solutions. Additionally, each of the 20 chapters is filled with highly-useful content, strategies, and techniques. So many of the GMAT materials on the market are watered-down and/or poorly designed. Scott’s materials and his course are by far the best way to master the math section of the GMAT. If your goal is to beat your GMAT competition, I highly recommend Scott and Target Test Prep. You’ll have everything you need to beat the GMAT."

I was frustrated after doing a Kaplan math prep course, moving through their questions with ease and not getting the scores I wanted. With Target Test Prep my math score was FAR above my verbal - and I was an English major in college!

This really gave me the tools to truly understand ALL of the GMAT math, and not just some tricks to try to guess the answer. I felt like I could do every single problem thrown at me, any my score showed it. Thanks so much to Jeff and the Target test prep folks!

The Target Test Prep GMAT Quant course is a perfect choice for improving your quant score. I used the course to self-study for a few months, and it helped me tremendously. The practice problems are the most realistic that I've seen. The solutions are by far the most clear and comprehensive that I've read. The learning platform is student-friendly and allows for rapid progress. In general, the course is exceptionally helpful, and I recommend it to anyone who needs to improve their scores.

TTP is the best spend for your time and money

After completing a big name GMAT prep course and not scoring what I wanted on the GMAT, I decided to look into private tutoring. I began working with Target Test Prep, and after 3 months, I raised my GMAT score 90 points. It was money and time very well spent!! I highly recommend Target Test Prep. During my first session with my Target Test Prep tutor, I knew I had found the right fit. By the end of the session, he was able to pin-point my problem areas and made me feel comfortable and relaxed.

Target Test Prep provides their own GMAT math self-study course, which is an incredible resource included in the price of private lessons. The course was able to clarify concepts more clearly and fully than any other course I had tried. On top of that, the one-on-one sessions with my tutor cut to the heart of the material quickly and efficiently. My tutor not only helped to improve my quant skills but he also offered me realistic advice about my approach to studying and my expectations.

The best way to prep for the GMAT, period

I’ve used just about every GMAT prep curriculum out there and nothing comes close to that of Target Test Prep. There is no fluff in the Target Test Prep material. It is simply straightforward GMAT concepts broken out by topic, and each topic immediately gets to the meat of what you need to know. There is nothing as good as TTP - period.

In addition to using the TTP Quant course, I met with a TTP tutor every few weeks for supplemental instruction. He focused me on the most important concepts (where I would see the most profit). My quant score went from 44 to 48 within a few short months. I ended up with a 720, which was 20 points beyond my goal! If you’re studying for the GMAT, do yourself a favor and use TTP. You will not regret it.

After two disappointing attempts at the GMAT, I knew I needed a fresh set of resources and was lucky enough to discover Target Test Prep. Along with its online quant course, I had one on one tutoring sessions with a TTP tutor and eventually raised my quant score from a 32 to a 42! The Target Test Pre GMAT Quant course is incredibly thorough and provides amazing clarity and detail in all the chapters and practice question explanations. The Target Test Prep Quant course allowed me to easily find my weaknesses and strengthen them on my own and also with my tutor.

My tutor was incredibly supportive, encouraging, and ultimately helped me overcome any test anxiety or fears I had on my previous attempts. I could not have achieved my target score without TTP. I can’t recommend them highly enough! If you have struggled with the GMAT and/or are using a big name prep course that you are not satisfied with, give TTP a try!

I worked with TTP over the course of several months to prepare for my GMAT exam. It had been about eight years since university, so as you can imagine, my skills were a bit rusty. Using Target Test Prep GMAT Quant, along with a Target Test Prep tutor, provided me with the knowledge and skills necessary to truly learn and master GMAT quant. My tutor was also an awesome coach and mentor, and over the three and a half months of preparation, my score improved by over 120 points! I highly recommend Target Test Prep for anyone trying to improve their GMAT quant score.

I cannot say enough positive things about Target Test Prep, my instructor, and the GMAT self-study course material they offer. The instructors are the best in the industry, and the curriculum is brilliantly put together and helped me enormously. After working with Target Test Prep for 5 weeks, my GMAT score went up 90 points from my first test; I was thrilled. Over the course of 5 weeks leading up to my first test, I did 5 hours of 1v1 tutoring and spent about 30 hours reviewing their chapters and completing the included practice questions. My preparation time did not allow for a comprehensive overview of all "testable" material, but my instructor worked with me to outline a custom-made strategy to put me in the best position to be successful. My instructor was amazing, and the curriculum is brilliantly put together; it helped me enormously. I ended up with exactly my target score of 650 (on my first attempt), which was a 40 point jump over an official GMAT practice test I took 1 week earlier, and a 90 point jump from the first practice test I took before I began working with my instructor 5 weeks earlier. The 1v1 time was extremely important in terms of exposing my weak spots (which I otherwise wouldn't have picked up from just practice questions) and the Review Questions offer extensive opportunities to "drill." In our last session, my instructor identified a particular shortcoming on Exponents (which ended up being 8 or 9 of the official exam questions I had). Had he not caught that, and implored me to re-review the chapter, I'd have been bludgeoned. The personal attention TTP offers is critical for maximizing your potential on the GMAT; I HIGHLY recommend.

My experience with Target Test Prep, from start to finish, was awesome. I was in a tough spot when I reached out to TTP. I needed some drastic improvement on the GMAT Quant section. I started working with my tutor once a week, and he and I methodically went through the Target Test Prep Online Math Self Study Course. The material was very comprehensive, more so than any other GMAT prep course I tried, but more importantly it was very easy to understand and retain. My tutor felt more like a good friend who was teaching me math instead of a math tutor. My tutor was also a great coach and sounding board during the process; he truly cared about my success on the GMAT. I would highly recommend Target Test Prep to anyone looking for some significant improvement on the GMAT Quant section.

Before I contacted Target Test Prep, I had been studying for 3 months using Kaplan’s Services and was disappointed after scoring below my target score. In searching for an alternative approach to boost my quant score, I was lucky enough to come across Target Test Prep GMAT Course. Unlike Kaplan’s course that focuses on just strategy, Target Test Prep gave me tangible Quant skills. I went from being able to narrow down the answer choices to a couple of answers through strategy to being able to do the math and know without a doubt the right answer. I was able to meet with Jeff (my tutor) more often and focus more on the GMAT material. Unlike other tutors, who treat you like you're just a face in the crowd, Jeff showed genuine concern about my progress and kept my confidence up, even when I doubted my abilities. He knew my exact skill level and stretched my abilities every time we met. Furthermore, because the Target Test Prep GMAT Quant Course breaks down each category of the GMAT, you can focus on specific skills before moving to the next category. This approach better identifies strengths and weaknesses and allows you to really concentrate on each subject. TTP helped me boost my GMAT score 100 points in 4 weeks?that's an incredible jump, and makes me competitive for top MBA programs! My Quant score went up more than 25 points and 30 percent. So far, my target schools have been more impressed by the significant jump than my overall score, showing my ability to learn complex Quant subjects in a short period of time. I highly recommend TTP.

After using TTP, I took the GMAT in early May and scored a 740 with a 49Q. I am beyond thrilled with my score, and I owe a lot to TTP, and my friend who referred me to them. The content is clearly written and organized, and the practice questions are challenging and numerous. The TTP GMAT Quant course was exactly what I needed to prepare well for Quant.

Before using TTP, I did my best to study as hard and as smart as I possibly could. However, I just was not making the progress that I need. After flunking my first GMAT attempt, I was pretty depressed about my prospects. My friend then referred me to Target Test Prep. I used the Target Test Prep GMAT Quant course from mid-February to mid-May. I studied 10-14 hours a week consistently. I went through the chapters one by one, rebuilding my quant foundation. On test day, I did not struggle at all with the questions! TTP was awesome!!!

Tailored tutoring to transcend tawdry test tallies

With Target Test Prep’s help, I raised my GMAT score from a 610 to a 710. Prior to working with Scott, I would never have had the tools to score in the 92nd percentile on the GMAT. I worked with Scott for 10 weeks and during that time, we were able to pinpoint my weaknesses. Despite being a person who loves logic puzzles and having an analytical mind, I would often come across tough GMAT problems that I could not efficiently solve. Soon enough, Scott helped me see the patterns in the tougher GMAT questions which allowed me to answer them quickly and confidently. The Target Test Prep GMAT Quant Course, which I used to self-study with, was awesome! In short, my GMAT math and verbal skills increased substantially. Believe it or not, I also had a good time during the tutoring. I was hesitant at first because I thought it would be dry and boring, but Scott made the whole process quite enjoyable. If your goal is to get an exceptional GMAT score, I'd recommend Scott and the team at Target Test Prep.

If you sign up for any tutoring sessions - the teachers are very flexible and patient with students - allow students to make mistakes without judgement or criticism.

The online math site has evolved since I have been with TTP and continues to improve. Content is great and unparalleled from what I have seen before and I have worked with countless other tutors in the past, as well as other large institutions.

I am still working with TTP and hope to advance my score even further from the 100 point gain I have already achieved.

Definitely recommend to my friends and anyone else out there looking to find a great quant program.

Best of luck to everyone out there trying to do the same!

Jeff and TTP played a fundamental role in achieving my GMAT score. Before starting with Jeff I had been studying for the GMAT by myself, but my practice test’s scores were far from my target score. Then I started tutoring with Jeff while also using the Target Test Prep Online GMAT Math Self-Study Course and I could feel the difference right away, the combination of the two I believe is what can really make the difference in your quant score. Jeff is a great tutor, he is very clear, extremely knowledgeable and very good in always giving to you questions that are challenging yet right for you in that specific moment. Jeff’s approach to the test is extremely well organized, he identifies your weaknesses and works on them with you, and this really made the difference for me. At the same time Target Test Prep Online GMAT Math Self-Study Course allows you to practice specifically and in depth on each topic in a very organized and systematic way, consolidating your knowledge on each topic. The result was that after approximately three months working with Jeff I had not only improved my quant skills but also my overall approach to the GMAT exam, mainly in terms of time management and confidence. On the actual test I managed to score over 700 and a lot of it is thanks to Jeff and TTP.

Comprehensive Quant Coverage Giving you the Confidence to BEAT the GMAT

After working with Target Test Prep, my GMAT score increased by 70 points. Scott was my tutor, helping me with my Quantitative skills for the GMAT. After taking the exam twice, I was very discouraged and knew that I needed to make a huge change in how I approached the exam - Target Test Prep was that change! Scott was instrumental in helping me increase my score by 70 points getting me to a score I would've never been able to achieve on my own. His online program through Target Test Prep is extremely comprehensive and provided me with the very detailed explanations I needed to approach every Quant question type included on the GMAT. The knowledge base that I gained through that program gave me the confidence that I needed to go in and beat the exam! Outside of the program, working with Scott directly was extremely powerful for a number of reasons. 1) He was very accommodating, waking up super early or even moving around appointments to make time for my sessions 2) He was dedicated to my success, consistently checking in on my progress and texting me unanticipated practice questions to keep me sharp and 3) He was encouraging giving me personalized advice to help build my confidence in my ability and provide me with the juice I needed right before test day.

I would highly recommend Scott as a personal tutor to any student looking for the key to getting a great score on the GMAT! Working with him was a huge advantage for me! I would also highly recommend Target Test Prep Quant - this course is truly amazing.

Great Tutor!

I highly recommend Target Test Prep for anyone wishing to improve their score on the GMAT. I used the Maximum plan. I took the GMAT in September of 2013. I began my preparation in June by taking an on-site prep course with Kaplan. I found the Kaplan instruction for the verbal section to be quite effective. However, for the quant section, I felt I needed something more. Kaplan focused on test strategy and time management. The instructor stated, quite correctly, that they did not have time to teach the breadth of quantitative skills covered in the GMAT. For this reason I sought out a tutor to help me relearn math skills I had not used since high school. I found Target Test Prep via a Craigslist ad. They were more expensive than other tutors I found but they were very professional and responsive via email. I was also initially concerned about working over the Internet a combination of Skype and WebEx. However, I decided to work with them because I was impressed with our initial discussions and because they offered free access to their study materials and practice questions. Their Target Test Prep platform was extremely helpful. It provided full written lessons and a deep set of practice questions presented in the same format as the GMAT itself. I worked with their questions and Kaplan’s quiz bank side by side and found the Target Test Prep questions to be substantially harder and more varied. I started actively tutoring roughly five weeks before taking the GMAT. Despite working in an analytical field, I’ve never had any reason to maintain even the rudimentary math skills tested by the GMAT. Quite frankly, I had forgotten how to even foil a quadratic when I started tutoring. However, I let my tutor know I was interested in scoring higher than a 700 and he committed doing everything possible to get me there. We worked our instruction times up on a weekly basis, and he was extremely flexible in working around my schedule. The WebEx & Skype tutoring method extremely effective and I actually felt I was able to stay focused in on the tutoring better than I would have in a physical environment. During the five weeks, we met about three times a week, twice for two hours and once for one hour. The instruction was extremely targeted and very effective. We moved quickly through sections I mastered easily, and slowed down on things I struggled with. We also reviewed practice tests and went over the questions I needed to review. Overall I was extremely pleased with my experience with Target Test Prep. In the five weeks of rigorous tutoring, I managed to improve my score from a 600 on my first practice test to a 740 on the actual GMAT. After working with the high difficulty questions presented by Target test prep, I didn’t find the actual test to be terribly challenging at all.

In 2014 I studied for the GMAT with the help of Target Test Prep. Before working with TTP, I had interviewed three different GMAT tutors from other prep companies. I was most impressed with TTP. My TTP tutor Jeffrey Miller was a great teacher, who knew the GMAT inside and out. He was very professional and was able to clearly explain many different types of GMAT math concepts. He was patient and helped calm me down when I was frustrated. I also used the TTP GMAT Quant course, which is an online self-study course. Using this course in tandem with private tutoring was a perfect combination. I researched almost all of the GMAT prep materials on the market, and the TTP Quant course offers what is BY FAR the most clear and comprehensive discussion of GMAT math concepts that I’ve ever seen.

In the end, with one month of study I scored a 700! I am very happy to have worked with TTP and recommend it with the highest regard.
