For ten days I will be highlighting the most popular GMAT debriefings of 2009 from the Beat The GMAT community, in countdown fashion.

The seventh most popular GMAT story this year was written by hemantsood: Yes I did it!!! 760 (Q50, V42). This guy had an incredible GMAT score gain, going from a 570 in his first try to a 760 in his retake--that's nearly 200 points of improvement! A lot of people would have given up after that first GMAT attempt, but not hemantsood:

This was my second attempt. In my first attempt I scored dismal 570(Q49, V19) on 08/29/08. It would still take some time to forget that day. I will not say that I was not prepared earlier but there was something else that let me down. I was struggling during verbal part, somehow I wanted my test to get over. And finally when it got over it left me with a score of 570 I was so depressed during that I never wanted to talk about it. It took me 4 months to get over it and here came the New Year.
