Interview call from SP jain GMBA ?

by bblast » Tue Mar 01, 2011 10:58 pm
Hello experts,
I got a call all of a sudden from SP Jain GMBA(Dubai/Singapore). I had casually filled out its form 48 hours back. I seriously have not researched this school. I will have to take a flight and valuable time off from work for the interview on 5th March. Is the program worth it ?

I have applied to some good bschools in USA for R3 and awaiting response from them.
Cheers !!

If you have idea that what percent of people are called for interview, since I have hardly heard, that person has applied for it and has not got call for evaluation.

I have heard mixed reviews about SP Jain Dubai/Singapore . There was friend of mine who went to SP Jain Dubai and subsequently came back and joined the IT firm as a Business Analyst , without much of rise . I could sense the frustation in him , after spending some much money and ending up in Debt . That was a time of recession , though , and so the total blame doesnt go to SP Jain for that .

In any case , you need to do a bit of research before you enter that territory . Get in touch with people who have done their GMBA from SP Jain . I believe , the Mail IDs of their Alumni is listed on their Websites . Actual facts could only be gauged from the horse's mouth only .

And moreover , if you are thinking of SP Jain , their Singapore GMBA is a much much better option than Dubai one .

And FYI , i read an Interview Xcript of one of the MBA guy who got interviewed @ SP Jain Dubai , and believe me i was flabbergasted . These guys asked him puzzles on Clocks , Trains , so on and so forth ( As we have in IIMs interview , and hence the same mentality ) in the Interview . That may or may not be the same scenario in all the cases , though
Anyways , research and Good Luck !

Hi Deeksha,

One of my friend also had the same problem. I guess S P Jain's selection criteria is profile based rather than performance based. But because of my acquaintance with some of my seniors in my present company who have completed their MBA from S P Jain have different opinion all together (obviously +ve) they say, S P J has transformed their lives.. so really hard to comment if there is really someting wrong with S P Jain or its applicants. We need to know about the college and program in detail before applying is what i personally advise..

Regards..Rohit.

Hi,

I am Tejas and I was a part of the April 2011 cohort at S P Jain. We did not have the Sydney leg of the program that time. In my experience, SPJ gives a lot of profile based calls. But that does not mean that the batch lacks luster. In my class, there were 99 others with some amazing credentials. SPJ changed our lives for the good. The top salary I remember was 32 lpa ( Kuwait based placement ) . Companies like Cognizant picked up good candidates and offered salary packages in range of 11 - 15 lpa , for an Indian placement. A lot of my batch mates are currently working out of US,Middle East, Singapore, Vietnam, China through brands like Nissan, Cognizant, Aon Hewitt , R&B , BMW and so on. About 5-6 folks of my class are now self employed with their own businesses and doing well. So, it was not a bad deal after all.

I myself started my own firm called KairosEducates after working for close to 2 years after my MBA. Hope my 2 cents above helped. Moreover, if anyone of you would need assistance in preparing for the interview, feel free to write in to me at [email protected]

Trust this helps.
